Shoot Many Robots: Arena Kings is a standalone F2P competitive shooter

Self-explanatory action game Shoot Many Robots is branching out. Developer Demiurge Studios has announced Shoot Many Robots: Arena Kings, a brand new free-to-play title for PC. Arena Kings is a competitive 2D shooter, casting players as kings that "murder each other to collect their crowns, and flush them down a teleporting golden toilet."

Players will be able to customize their characters with the same kinds of gear found in the original Shoot Many Robots, and more is on the way. While the official release date is still under wraps, interested players can sign up for the closed beta here. SHOOT MANY ROBOTS: ARENA KINGS, COMPETITIVE INDIE 2D SHOOTER WITH UNDERPANTS, ANNOUNCED

Demiurge Studios Announces Shoot Many Robots: Arena Kings, May or May Not Have Robots in it

Cambridge, MA – July 23, 2012 – From Demiurge Studios comes Shoot Many Robots: Arena Kings, the player-versus-player follow-up to its recently released Shoot Many Robots. The new, standalone title Arena Kings is an online deathmatch that pits players against each other in a game of (porcelain) thrones. In "Royal Flush" the Kings must murder each other to collect their crowns, and flush them down a teleporting golden toilet, naturally. New content and updates are being added to the game weekly, based on feedback received directly from players. Don't just stay tuned to see what happens next – be a part of it!

Arena Kings is a free-to-play title for PC via Steam, and is currently in a closed beta. Prospective Kings and Queens can sign up at http://arenakingsbeta.shootmanyrobots.com – batches of keys are sent out weekly!

"We're taking our favorite parts of Shoot Many Robots and stirring in PvP competition and gameplay that's constantly evolving," says Will Jennings, lead designer on Arena Kings. "It's like a big tasty vegetarian stew with lots of guns in it, but also alive and mutating and fighting other soups. While I've got notebooks full of weapons, special moves, and pants I can't wait to add, what's really exciting is getting to hear from players in the earliest stages of the game's development and giving them what they're asking for, sometimes in the very next weekly update."

Arena Kings still has the zany gear from Shoot Many Robots (Butterfly wings, tighty-whities, deep sea diver helmet? Check, check, check!), and will continue to expand the creative uses of the multitude of equipment. Completing challenges to upgrade your arsenal and unlock achievements is only the beginning of how Arena Kings will continue to build upon its predecessor.
