Tropico 4 Gold Edition launched this week, and what better way for El Presidente to celebrate the compilation than with an upsell? The "Megalopolis" downloadable content pack is available now for PC, adding a "new campaign, new avatar clothing and more" for $5. The DLC will be available for Xbox 360 later this year.

The Megalopolis DLC adds the conventillo, which offers cheap housing with plenty of room before the ziggurat comes along. There's the new trait of bureaucrat to create residential buildings cheaper and with greater profit for El Presidente's personal account through the "building permit" edict. Finally, the game adds the Megalopolis mission, so the island is never lacking dutiful citizens bringing El Presidente a fresh pina colada (made from Tropico rum, of course).

Megalopolis DLC contents -

Build the largest city in the Caribbean! It's up to you to decide how to deal with the problems that come with a massive influx of immigrants looking to join your society. Manage problems like unemployment, over-population and food shortages. Make use the Conventillo, a cheap new residential building that maximizes living space at a minimal cost. As el Presidente, try on a decidedly more old-fashioned suit and spice it up with a classic monocle and mayoral necklace. The new bureaucrat trait helps you build cheaper residential buildings and earn bigger profits with the "building permit" edict.
New building: Conventillo : Cheap housing with plenty of room to spare, but degrades over time and has to be frequently repaired
New trait: Bureaucrat: Build cheaper residential buildings while earning more profits from the new "building permit" edict
New outfit: Mayor (male avatar), includes monocle, dress suit and special necklace
New mission: Megalopolis

Tropico 4 sees you return as El Presidente, the tyrannical (or benevolent) dictator of the island paradise of Tropico. The world is changing and Tropico is moving with the times – geographical powers rise and fall and the world market is dominated by new players with new demands and offers – and you, as El Presidente, face a whole new set of challenges. If you are to triumph over your naysayers you will need to gain as much support from your people as possible. Your decisions will shape the future of your nation, and more importantly, the size of your Swiss bank account.

Tropico 4 features all new missions across new maps and includes exciting and fun new features to keep the action fresh and challenging. You can even elect ministers into power to help get your more controversial decisions passed through the government. But remember to keep your friends close and your enemies closer as everyone has an agenda!
