AT&T, Sierra Wireless launch the AT&T Unite touchscreen hotspot for LTE on the go

AT&T's snagged exclusive rights to Sierra Wireless' latest touchscreen LTE hotspot, the AT&T Unite. Packing a 2.4-inch display, the unit will keep you informed of your usage allowance, let you manage what devices are allowed access and tweak network settings without any additional fiddling. It's able to handle up to 10 simultaneous connections and, naturally, can be added to existing Mobile Share plans for $20 extra per month. We asked if it wanted to reveal details of pricing and availability, but AT&T suddenly went all shy and hid under the couch -- so we'll have to wait and see.

AT&T Unite Provides Easy to Use Mobile Internet On-The-Go

Dallas, Texas, January 04, 2013 - AT&T* announced today that it will be the exclusive carrier of the AT&T Unite, a 4G LTE mobile hotspot from Sierra Wireless that lets customers take the mobile internet with them on-the-go.**

AT&T Unite has an easy to use 2.4" touchscreen display and can connect up to 10 Wi-Fi enabled devices, including a guest hotspot for one-time users. Customers can also manage connected devices, change network and device settings and block unwanted devices from joining the network – directly from the screen. AT&T Unite is powered by the nation's largest 4G network. An on-screen meter monitors data consumption, making it easier to track your usage.

Customers purchasing connected devices from AT&T have more options in choosing the plan that's right for them and their mobile devices. Customers can choose one of AT&T's existing individual or family plans or select a shared data plan. With AT&T Mobile Share plans, new and existing customers can share a single bucket of data across smartphones, tablets, and other compatible devices, including the AT&T Unite. Adding a mobile hotspot device to a Mobile Share plan is just $20 a month. ***

"This new mobile hotspot makes customers' lives easier by allowing them to stay connected to family, friends, and work while on-the-go and on any Wi-Fi enabled device," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices and Developer Services, AT&T. "Coupled with our Mobile Share plans, the AT&T Unite is a compelling and valuable option for connecting to the nation's largest 4G network."

AT&T customers have access to the nation's largest 4G network, covering more than 285 million people. AT&T has two 4G networks that work together for customers, LTE and HSPA+ with enhanced backhaul, and the AT&T Unite is compatible with both. That means AT&T customers are able to enjoy a widespread, ultra-fast and consistent 4G experience as they move in and out of LTE areas. With other carriers, when you travel outside of their LTE coverage area, you may be on a much slower 3G network.
