What I want in patch 52 that isn't there yet

The eminent Matt Rossi recently wrote an article detailing what he wanted to see in patch 5.2 that isn't there yet, and while he and I share many of the same opinions, there were things that everyone's favorite warrior left out, in this writer's humble opinion at least. Given that variety is the spice of life, I thought I'd throw my thoughts into the ring for your consideration.

5-man content

I heartily agree that more small group content would be fantastic. Scenarios, as someone who mostly enjoys healing and tanking in PvE, don't really do it for me. Yes, they're great for players who focus on DPS, but for those of us who don't, scenarios are less fun. There's no doubt that a healer or a tank is a handy thing to have along in a scenario, but you're not really putting your skills to the test in a situation that's designed for several DPS to complete without your assistance. While I understand Zarhym's assertion that 5-mans would be a bit "funky" at this point in the expansion, and that 5-mans haven't typically been added with every patch in WoW's long and storied history, and whether we really need them or not, I'd love some new 5-man content.

Appear Offline

Moving on to things Mr. Rossi didn't already bring up, what on earth happened to our much-vaunted appear offline mode on battle.net and real ID? We first heard about the possibility of its addition back in September, with it being promised "sometime after" the launch of Mists of Pandaria. Well, that's now, isn't it? We're now in a period which could be considered some time after the launch of Mists, so where's my appear offline?

I'm generally a very social player, I like doing things in groups, and chatting and hanging out with friends and loved ones in-game, but even for an outgoing soul like me, there's the need for some me-time and space every now and then. Maybe I just want to level my DK in peace, or watch a film while questing lazily without anyone knowing I'm online. Where's my appear offline, Blizzard? Maybe they're just waiting until they can apply it to your /who as well.

BoA items that really do bind on account

I don't know about you, but I really do want my bind on account items to do just that. I want to be able to send them to another server, without paying real money to send them on a character. Maybe add a 12th pack horse slot, where the sole role of the "character" is to take your BoA items from one server to the next, or something. A guild-mate recently discovered that Grand Commendations work cross-realm, so why not BoA items?

And speaking of BoA items...

BoA recipes from reputation

Yes, I know, you're going to be angry with me for this one. But I don't care much for rep grinding, especially when, having geared pretty well through PvP, I don't really have a great requirement for the gear it rewards. But the recipes... I need them. My little enchanter, as my third level 90, is certainly not going to be grinding out reputation, but she really would love those recipes, so why can't my shaman send them over to her? While I appreciate that there are items and boosts added that make the rep grind far less arduous, it's still a lot of work.

Story progression moved away from dailies

I get it, I really do. Dailies are the thing in Mists. And I'm sure you're all tired of me complaining that I don't like them, but the fact remains that I don't. I don't really mind missing out on the reputation items, with the exception of the BoA recipes I mention above, it's perfectly fair that if you want to get nice things you have to work for them. But I really do miss the story.

Matt wrote in his piece that he wants to see more story-related quests, and I want to see quite the opposite. I want to see the story woven into raids, into dungeons. I don't really care for the lengthy cutscenes like we got in the last patch of Cataclysm, but NPC dialogue like in some of the ICC heroics back in Wrath would be amazing. I'm really hoping that the new raid will bring the story back out of the shadow of daily quests.

Abyssal Seahorse becomes flying mount

Because, well, how awesome would that be? Zooming through the skies of Azeroth on a seahorse! That Abyssal Seahorse has sat at the top of my mount list for so long now, mocking me with its lack of usefulness. I love seahorses, and I'd really, really love a seahorse mount that could fly. Go on, you know you want to.

My imagination is running away with me a little now, so I'm going to stop. What do you think? Let your imagination run wild, I know I have!

Mists of Pandaria is here! The level cap has been raised to 90, many players have returned to Azeroth, and pet battles are taking the world by storm. Keep an eye out for all of the latest news, and check out our comprehensive guide to Mists of Pandaria for everything you'll ever need to know.
