One Shots: A lack of depth perception

I don't know about you, but when I pick my mounts, I like to pick something that can manage depth perception. Reader Paul may be keen on this mount, but all I can think of is that his character's probably being led into a lot of bottomless pits, cacti, and stone walls.

But who needs practicality when you've got awesome looks? Paul has nothing but the best to say about this Final Fantasy XIV creature: "It is simply because its the best mount I have ever come across in my entire career of mmo's. Also going by the census data that was released at the Tokyo Game Show, Roegadyn are somewhat of a rare race in the game, so I thought I would fly the flag for them too."

We've got many more eyes for you in this week's One Shots after the jump. Enough, perhaps, to lend one to unfortunate souls like Paul who are perpetually in danger every time they take their ride out to the 7-11.

Speaking of awesome rides, Draxos was so taken by this 2013 Ford Warbird that he had to order his crew to halt, then fly out himself in a shuttlecraft to take a few snazzy shots. Yes, they all thought he was crazy and attempted a mutiny, but once he filled out his scrapbook, he knew he had the last laugh.

"Here is a picture taken during one of the missions where I just had to stop to take a screenshot in Star Trek Online," Draxos wrote. "This is my Romulan character after dispatching some enemies of the Star Empire. Ahem, I mean I'm a nice Republic guy just cruising through space without a care in the world, except for those ruddy great big rocks everywhere!"

Reader Tyler has our next submission courtesy of The Secret World: "This shot is from the Guardians of Gaia event. It shows my Templar and several other players in a very badass 'superhero group' pose after defeating one of the world bosses. The interesting thing about this shot is that it's totally unscripted. I have no idea who the other players were. We didn't coordinate at all. We just accidentally fell into this awesome pose. Don't we look ready to rush off and save the world? Avengers assemble!"

Perhaps the greatest tragedy of the passing of City of Heroes are all of the horribly punny names that players came up with for their superheroes. The world is poorer a few million groans these days, and this is why.

"One of the greatest things of City of Heroes was the character creator," reader Joe testified. "Not just the ability to mix and match skill sets to create your own unique character, but all the costume customization options -- they meant that I never really got time to get any one character to a high level because I was too busy trying out new ones, such as this, the Thorny Cheerleader."
