WRUP: A week off edition

I have had several weeks off from Final Fantasy XIV. I don't have much of a choice.

My birthday this year is on Sunday. To celebrate the fact that I am one step closer to feeling the icy hand of death crawling along my spine, I took a week off to stare in mute horror at the trainwreck that I have made of my life over the past 30 years. This will be accomplished largely by completely avoiding introspection and combining sleep, video games, and hard liquor in the proper portions. Also some presents.

But enough about my whatever, it's time for WRUP! As always, the Massively staff is out and about playing all manner of video games, and you can find out what games we're playing just past the cut. So take a look and let us know what you'll be up to down in the comments! Especially if you will also be staring in mute horror at something -- possibly your attempts to construct a birdhouse.

Bree Royce, Editor-in-Chief

@nbrianna: I'll be in World of Warcraft again. Both my Shaman and my Hunter have made it to pandaland (official name), and my old prot Warrior isn't far behind. Past that, I'm considering abandoning most of my other toons. I just can't keep up with all the alts (and more importantly, their tradeskills... ug).

David Desi, Multimedia Contributor

@PsykopigAU: I will be hitting a little bit of Star Wars: The Old Republic this weekend before my trip to Hong Kong! I have heard there is an unlicensed World Of Warcraft theme park in Hong Kong, so my aim is to find it and laugh!

Eliot Lefebvre, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Eliot_Lefebvre: I've got to spend some time exploring the villain experience in DC Universe Online, and I really need to clock more time in Darksiders II. (Thus far it's a huge improvement on its predecessor, which was no slouch.) Beyond that, I'll be toying around a bit in Star Wars: The Old Republic in anticipation of the upcoming patch and generally chilling.

Jasmine Hruschak, Multimedia Contributor

@irljasmine: I'm going to be click click clicking around Path of Exile because nothing cures a cold faster than crawling dungeons. This is a medical fact. Nine out of ten doctors recommend taking two dark, dank, cold, drafty dungeons and calling them in the morning.

Justin Olivetti, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Sypster: I have no grand plans beyond seeing where the winds of gaming take me. I've recently started up a new superhero in Champions Online, so she might get a bit of my time, but there's so much yet to be gained from other vistas. And why did Vanguard have to go and drop all those restrictions like that? Are they trying to make it harder on me to settle down with just a couple titles?

Mike Foster, Contributing Editor

@MikedotFoster: I finally have a weekend to myself and I'm going to blow it playing World of Warcraft. Come at me, trolls! Also I'll do some EVE Online skill queue stuff, as is the norm, and may try to finish Final Fantasy XIII-2.

MJ Guthrie, Columnist Extraordinaire and Contributing Editor

@MJ_Guthrie: I'm trying to hold off finishing my flight quest until the next EverQuest Two-sday, so I may have to avoid the game altogether to resist the temptation! However, my DC Universe Online stream was so much fun, I will be spending some more time there. I also plan to re-acclimate to Guild Wars 2 in preparation for a dual stream with Lis next week. Then, with all my extra time (cue insane laughter) I aim to stock up on AP in The Secret World so I can start using better weapons.

Patrick Mackey, League of Legends and Age of Wushu Columnist

@mackeypb: I plan on playing GW2, Age of Wushu, and League of Legends as much as I can squeeze in this weekend. GW2 is pretty fun, but I haven't had much time to play with my girlfriend yet, which kind of sucks. In LoL, I've focused a lot on spectating high-level matches to observe high-level player trends and how top players deal with tricky situations, but I'm still trying to break my losing record in Dominion and failing miserably. In Age of Wushu, I'm studying some of the styles I'm having trouble fighting -- particularly two-lunge styles like Leisure Kick and Wind-Chasing Blade -- and trying to come up with ways to fight against them. I'm also learning a few alternate styles; I've fully mastered Rosy Cloud Stab now and I'm moving on to Perish Blade.

Richie Procopio, Multimedia Contributor

@RichieProcopio: This weekend I'll be playing a mixture of Torchlight 2, Guild Wars 2, and The Walking Dead. My sons have been leveling up characters in Guild Wars 2 and they are obsessed with buying minipets and dyes off of the trading post. In other words, they are obsessed with spending all of my gold!

Terilynn Shull, Star Trek Online Columnist

@terilynns: Won't have too much time to play this weekend, but when I do I'll be taking my characters Beth and Shaughnessy through the dailies in Tau Dewa and New Romulus in Star Trek Online. My new rig is on order and after it gets a software tweak or two from my computer guru I will finally get to see what games are supposed to look like. That day can't come soon enough!

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
