WRUP: What would you eliminate?

WRUP What would you eliminate

This week, we asked our writers what "feature" in WoW they'd like to remove. Heck, it seems like everyone has a pet peeve or an annoying game dynamic they're eager to see go away. So let's round it all up in one place and get it over with.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'm playing catch-up with writing and other projects, and more raiding on Sunday. And if I have time, maybe I'll squeeze some Mass Effect into there because I miss the sci-fi. As for killing features, I'm pretty sure that lockouts on heroics in TBC and Wrath don't really need to be there anymore.

Chase Christian (@madsushi) I am in Dallas this weekend, so there won't be any gaming for me. I do have Strike Suit Zero waiting for me at home, though. If I had to toss one feature, it would be the Arms and Fury specs. Warriors should be relegated to tanking, rather than pretending to be rogues.

Chase Hasbrouck (@alarondruid, @alaronmonk) Finished up my move, so may play this weekend if I can tear myself away from Dishonored. Sadly, all the new shinies coming in 5.2 has diminished my desire to do stuff in 5.1, though I may go do a solo Undying Naxx run.

Dan Desmond (@Antigen_) Having finished Dishonored last weekend (great game, I'd definitely recommend it), I might just do some dailies on my paladin and maybe try to level one of my Horde paladins. I wanted to tank with it, but we'll have to see about that. Otherwise I'll be throwing down some Crusader Kings II with some friends, so that will be a lot of fun as always -- plotting the deaths of the children of the emperor of Britannia is getting to be a familiar pastime.

As weird as it seems, I'm waiting for them to take out the reagent cost for switching talents and glyphs. Yes, I know they're pretty cheap, but it's just annoying.

Dawn Moore (@dawnwow) In addition to my normally scheduled raid, I'll be playing the Path of Exile open beta a little. I also just signed up for the Elder Scrolls Online beta, so I'll be actively keeping my toes crossed until I get in.

One feature I would like to see get the axe is class trainers. With all the changes and upgrades this game has seen in the past two expansions, class trainers have become mostly irrelevant. The first quest you get at level 3 to go find them in your race's starting area doesn't make sense anymore, since there is no reason to hunt down a class trainer when they don't even teach you anything. Blizzard should just create a second tier Tome of Clear Mind which allows players to change specs wherever they are in the world. The class trainers can still function as a quest giver and trainer for your second spec, and even as a vendor for the new tomes, but there's really no reason to use them as incentive to travel back to capital cities. We have the auction house and barber shop for that.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I am playing the game of flying across the country with a husband and infant. So not much gaming time for me.

I'm ready to be done with reapplying Windfury and Flametongue to my weapons every hour.

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) Learning how the horde half lives now a days on my hunter. I got lost in Orgrimmar because I haven't been there in forever. It was interesting. Liked the horde opening to Pandaria, and looking forward to more questing on the horde side to see everything through a set of eyes I haven't looked through in a long while.

As far as features I'd like to see go away? Well, I'm wondering if the instance limit per hour needs to be there anymore, or if the total per hour can be increased. With all the old dungeons people want to do for xmog, and how quick dungeon runs are from the older content, would be nice to keep farming for those pieces of gear that just won't drop.

Matt "Matticus" Low (@matticus) Just picked up Front Mission Evolved on Steam for 10 bucks (Steam sales are wrecking me). Will give that a shot over the weekend and may spin up some PlanetSide 2. Warcraft-wise, I'm working on a Panda mage. I want to get that Classy Pandaren Achievement. After securing a Gold run in Temple of the Jade Serpent, it's time to add another one from Mogushan Vaults.

As for things we don't need? Dailies. No more.

Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Going to play some more WoW on my main. Debating another Terrace LFR run and burning more coins for more chances at the sword from Sha of Fear. Otherwise the usual: VP and lesser charms. Also will be playing some Crusader Kings II, and maybe (since I have the itch) some Simcity 4.

I really wish they'd get rid of dodge and parry. They have an oppressive diminishing returns curve and they haven't been awesome as tank stats since TBC. Just put plate tanks on plate tank gear (like druid tanks with their gear) and let dps stats convert to tanking stats.

Megan O'Neill (@slowpoker) I might try some more resto druid alting, but it's likely to be just dailies and then logging off to take the bus somewhere. Real Life wants to throw all the heroic modes at me right now.

Bonus: Requiring three people to summon a stone, but only two to summon a person. Just make it two people, already. I'm tired of explaining it every time my party wants to be lazy.

Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) I'm playing the back to reality game, with Christmas, my birthday and my mum's birthday in very quick succession over three weeks, this is a crazy time of year for me, and other things often fall by the wayside. I will be catching up on work, getting my act together, and perhaps doing some tanking. I'm getting tired of healing in PvE, switching mains for Mists may have been an error!

As far as removing features goes, I'd take away the absence of skirmishes!

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
