Road Rash creator may Kickstart franchise's return

Apparently Reddit grants wishes now, at least when it comes to reviving old Sega Genesis games. Yesterday, Reddit user kybobs posed the question, "Why hasn't this game resurfaced?" alongside the above image of brutal motorcycle racer Road Rash. Lo and behold, a few hours later, Road Rash co-designer Dan Geisler responded to the comment. "It hasn't resurfaced because I was burned out after Road Rash 3," he wrote, "But I'm ready to do another one now."

He added that he misses playing the series, and that he would consider running a Kickstarter on a new Road Rash if there was enough interest. He further noted that he would "need to talk with EA to get the rights." If that doesn't work out, it appears he would pursue a spiritual sequel with a different title but similar mechanics. Specifically, Geisler wrote that the game would be rendered in 3D, but maintain the "2.5D" physics of the originals, "cause reality tends to suck."

Reports of a possible Road Rash reboot from EA have been floating around for a few years now, though nothing has ever come of them.
