Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch hands-on

Today, at IFA 2013, Samsung announced its long rumored (and much leaked) Galaxy Gear smartwatch. This week's prototype slip-up didn't leave much to the imagination, but some of the nitty gritty details were wrong. The Gear will ship with a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED panel sporting a resolution of 320 x 320. The camera -- which came as a surprise to us -- is designed to capture low-res shots and 10-second 720p videos, and includes a 1.9-megapixel BSI sensor and an auto-focus lens. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 preview

Continuing its barrage of new products, Samsung also announced today the third iteration of its Android phablet: the Galaxy Note 3. So what's changed? The new Note comes with better S Pen integration, a 5.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED panel, and is 1.3mm narrower than its predecessor. The biggest change, however, can be found on the back of the device. Samsung -- once famous for its glossy plastic exterior -- has moved away from the material and replaced it with a matte faux-leather finish that's more comfortable, offers a better grip and doesn't leave fingerprints. Sony Xperia Z1 hands-on

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition) hands-on

Along with the new Galaxy Gear smartwatch and an updated Galaxy Note phone, Samsung announced a new Note 10.1 tablet today at IFA 2013. Prior to its announcement, the 10.1 had been severely downplayed in light of the aforementioned gadgets -- but worry not because you'll be able to get your S Pen fix with the fresh tablet regardless. Following the design cues of its smaller sibling, the Note 10.1 does away with its plastic package for a faux-leather upgrade and a high-resolution WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) LCD panel.
