WRUP: 'tis the season

winter veil

The season of gift giving is here. It's always an odd one for us Azerothian gamers. We'd love to give WoW related gifts, but there's only so many stuffed animals and game cards one wife or husband should receive. So while asking our intrepid staff of WoW journalists what they're playing this weekend, we also asked what WoW gift would bring a smile to their faces. Hope springs eternal, right?

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I picked up Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and I'll likely be playing that. I loved A Link to the Past, it was one of my favorite SNES titles when I was younger, and this one is just hitting all the right nostalgia buttons for me, plus it's got a new gameplay twist that makes the puzzles even more entertaining to figure out. I might play a bit of WoW while I'm at it, just to finish capping out my valor for the week, or possibly poke around in The Secret World, which is actually a pretty entertaining MMO, although it hasn't captured me in quite the same way that WoW did. Bonus answer: I found a really cool coffee mug on etsy that has the hearthstone symbol engraved in it, and I'm still debating whether or not I want to get it.

Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) Now that Final Fantasy VIII (The best of the series, dangit) is on Steam, I expect to play that until I drop. Time to grind Lionheart before Disc One, just like old times! Before that, though, I want to finish up Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The story's getting a bit dismaying (as they say on Tumblr, it is giving me the feels), but I'm still having fun sinking ships and assassinating redcoats.

As for the bonus question. Honestly? I'm kinda disappointed in myself for failing to buy one of those Judgement Robes before they sold out at BlizzCon. I'd also go for a Giant Chicken mount in game.

Elizabeth Harper (@Faience) I have been grinding my way through Cataclysm quest achievements and thinking about starting an alt... but which class?! Hmm...

I'd really like a Heart of the Nightwing mount but it's tough to find friends who have never played to recruit into the game to get one!

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) Honestly, I would not be opposed to a new laptop bag sporting a Horde logo. I'd rock that for my work computer!

This weekend I'm actually playing in a journeyman tournament for Hordes, where I get to pit my expertly painted minis against other players and throw sticks, stones and axes at their faces! WOOO!

Lisa Poisso (@lisapoisso) Just started an undead rogue for low-level BGs. Of course, we keep losing internet because of the ice storms, so I probably won't see much action this weekend. Bonus question: A Horde blanket as a Christmas gift for my husband.

Megan O'Neill (@slowpoker) I'll be hitting up some WoW alts along with possibly wiping to Dark Shaman 25H for the first time on Sunday, but there's definitely going to be some Diablo III time over the weekend for me. My softcore demon hunter should make 60 number 5, and I'd like to work some more on my hardcore barb (only 37).

Bonus: I saw a stuffed felhunter on Tumblr once, but it sadly wasn't for sale. I would still love a stuffed toy collection of all the warlock demons. Maybe an imp marionette or a voidlord Squishable, but that felhunter was so cute!

Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) Playing WoW, WoW, WoW. Now that my computer works again (and works well!), I am finally working once again on my legendary quest line. I gave up on LFR runs trying to get sigils; it was just too hard on my system. Now I'm only one sigil of power away from finishing the first part of the quest!

As for my WoW accessory, I still want the giant chicken mount from the TCG. That thing is awesome.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
