The Queue: Bitter rivals

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

I can't believe I only just found out there was a new Sleigh Bells album released last year. What the heck.

Hyde_v asked:

We know that gnomes and dwarves originated from their electronic and stone forms via the Curse of Flesh. We know that humans are descendants of the Vry'kul. We know that night elves evolved from trolls. But where did the trolls originate from? Azeroth was home to the Old Gods and their Elemental armies. Were the trolls a slave race?

Azeroth had indigenous humanoid races, or at least ones not created by the titans. Trolls appear to be one of those races, at least until we hear otherwise.

Carune001 asked:

Tomorrow marks the 8th month of 5.4. What are the current thoughts on the content.

It exists!

Puntable1 asked:

Where is that Garrison blog they have been working on? So dry... need water... cough

I was wondering this too, actually. Zarhym tweeted that the release date is TBD pending some internal milestones.

bcf_80 asked:

What sort of easy to implement features (as in, not requiring extensive overhaul, in theory) do you think WoW is missing and you'd like to see?

What comes to mind for me is a legacy system where your alts can share a family name or bonuses across them as they level, in something similar to what SWTOR has done.

Yeah, a legacy/synergy system would be great. Marvel Heroes has a neat system where every character you get to max level boosts the xp gain of other characters, as well as providing a toggleable stat boost based on the character at max level. Hawkeye gives you increased crit damage, for example, and Ms. Marvel grants increased energy damage. I'd love something like that for WoW.

What I really, really want is the ability to give characters surnames. I mean, jeez. All of the lore characters except, like, Thrall and Medivh have big Warcrafty last names. But not us!

(The TOR version of Legacy stuff doesn't really make any logical sense -- a Twi'lek and a human wouldn't share last names unless they were married or whatever -- and it wouldn't really work for WoW implemented the same way. The racial naming conventions are too different.)

DespicableBrad asked:

If you could kill off any single faction leader (not including Garrosh Hellscream), who would it be? Include how you'd kill them off and why?

I am completely tired of Sylvanas Windrunner and her Saturday morning cartoon supervillainy, but I think she at least adds some internal intrigue to the Horde, so I'd probably get rid of Varian. It'd put Anduin in a tough spot but he'd have lots of dueling influences -- Jaina, Velen, etc. He'd get to choose his path. We all know someday dude's gonna be the king, but maybe we can speed up that day.
