The Queue: Fine Draenor cuisine

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) is answering all kinds of questions today.

I always kind of wondered how one cooks clefthoof meat. Apparently it involves throwing the entire clefthoof on a campfire. This seems like it would be a particularly entertaining addition to any mystery basket on Chopped.

Chrth asked:

Q4TQ: If you were to have a social* dinner with anyone from Azeroth, who would it be?

Wrathion. I mean, come on. His table manners are likely impeccable and if I'm lucky there'll be some kind of temper-tantrum floor show or at the very least some really juicy dirt about some dignitary or another.

DW gave Thrall a portion of his own power as Earth-Warder. In that sense, Thrall was Earth-Warder. It was the only way we could destroy Deathwing since he couldn't be affected by the Dragon Soul

No, he didn't. The only thing Deathwing gave Thrall was a monstrous headache and a glimpse of what it meant to be the Earth Warder, that was it. No powers were transferred. Thrall is just a really powerful shaman, and offered to fill for the role of Earth Warder since he has a deep connection with the earth. Although yes, Thrall was also given the task of handling the Dragon Soul for the reasons you mentioned -- dragons couldn't touch the thing or handle it, but creatures that weren't dragons certainly could -- that had nothing to do with Thrall's fill-in capacity as Earth Warder temp.

jpec07 asked:

So wait, I saw in the comments yesterday on one of the articles that Proving Grounds are not being properly revamped, but are just being retuned for level 100. Is there any truth to this? If so, how do they play? Are there still some classes that have a really hard time compared to others? Do they still favor classes with kiting mechanics?

They're being re-tuned in the sense that they work a little differently -- instead of your gear scaling down to a particular level, the creatures in Proving Grounds now scale up to meet whatever you happen to be wearing at the time, similar to the flex technology used for scaling raid encounters around however many people happen to be in the raid at any given time. They aren't really any more difficult than they were before -- honestly in some cases they're almost easier, because none of your current gear is being nullified or changed when you attempt them.

Zheo asked:

QFTQ: With the upcoming Stat Squish, are our characters going to feel any more/less powerful in current content? I know Rossi wrote an article about us going God-mode in old raids, but are we still the same in current content? Or does Garrosh aka Garry aka G-Unit become a loot piñata?

I haven't actually played through any current content on the beta, so I logged on just to check out a heroic and see whether or not I could solo the thing. After bulldozing my way into Mogu'shan Palace on Heroic difficulty, I can safely say that as a rogue with a 583 ilvl, the trash seemed to die a tiny bit faster but the first boss still made me go splat fairly efficiently. Different classes may find their mileage varies, of course, but I don't suspect it's going to feel too much differently than it does right now.

wrathofkublakhan asked:

So ... will the special bags (like mining and herb) still exist? And if they do, would we even want them?

They're still around, and you can still use them if you deem it necessary. Between the reagents tab and the fact that most ore, herbs, and other items that go in the reagent tab will now stack to 200 instead of 20, I'm not sure why you would find it necessary, but hey. The option is still there!

Vynastin asked:

Q4TQ: Any thoughts on when we may finally see Blood Elf model updates? Seems like forever ago that they stopped releasing the new models for virtually every race except blood elves.

I doubt it's going to be anytime really soon. Right now, they're hard at work finishing everything off for the Warlords launch, and BlizzCon is also a pretty big undertaking in and of itself. I doubt we'll see anything regarding those models until people have had a chance to get back from BlizzCon, launch the game and get settled back in.

soeljumner asked:

Q4tQ: What sort of lore reasoning are we looking at for newly joined Pandaren sticking with our factions to head through the portal? The alliance and horde tore up their homes why follow us into the unknown? Pandaren traveling to an alternate Draenor just fascinates me at the moment.

Our factional pandaren are all representatives from the Wandering Isle, not Pandaria -- and we did nothing to the Wandering Isle (other than crash a boat into it). However, I assume they're going through the portal for the same reasons as everyone else -- they'd rather not see the world overrun by a rampaging bloodthirsty army of very angry orcs. After all, they kind of have a vested interest in Azeroth just as much as we do, seeing as how they live on it.

Eliza asked:

Q regarding new models: It's my understanding that we do have the option to keep the old models, but if we switch to the new ones, do we have the option to switch back to the old somehow?

Yep! It's a toggle setting under the Advanced tab in the System menu. Check the box to use the new models, uncheck it to use the old ones.
