The Queue: Nerfing legendary, reagent tab, mounts, and Meechum

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) will be your host today.

I'm a little late on the Queue today, so let's jump into it head first.

Jpec asked:

So why are they nerfing legendaries again? Isn't a legendary weapon supposed to be sort of, I dunno, legendary? Meaning you want to hold onto and use it forever, if not for a really long time? In Diablo, I was holding onto legendaries 10-15 levels after I got them, because the stats were that good. Since the squish, using a legendary has become somewhat viable again - at least at 90. So why the nerfs? It's not like they're suddenly BiS, and they're still a pain in the tuchus to get, so why not let them be used? When will Blizzard let us have our cake and eat it, too?

That's a common misconception. Legendary weapons are not meant to be held onto forever -- they're meant to be used for a good portion of the current expansion, and then stored in your bank and a valued monument to that one time you did something legendary.

You're still going to be using your cloak into the 90s; I wouldn't be surprised to see some people wearing it when they freshly hit 100. But that said, I wouldn't expect it to last; nor would I want it too. The expansions are meant as a way for people to start over, to level the playing field. For a few minutes, at least, your character has just as much work to be done as the guys and gals in the top guilds in the world.

Legendary or not, the level playing field is much more important than pieces of gear being carried forward.

Jeff asked:

It costs 100g to open the reagent tab on any character you wish to use it on. Seems to me that is a bargain. Even for a boosted character 100g is not much at all. So why even charge for it? It's clearly not a gold sink. Does that somehow arbitrarily give it more value?

It's pricey for a new toon to do -- they want it to be something that someone just coming into the game has to think about and go "I want this!" And then they work for it, eventually achieving it, and get some satisfaction from opening up a great new tab in the bank. That might sound a little pathetic, especially given the loads of gold that is available now, but in reality we all do these little "small win" things. It's one of the primary ways WoW is psychologically enduring.

Autogatos asked:

Why exactly are the Argent Tournament dailies so popular all of a sudden? I've been working on them for the past year, trying to get all the pets and mounts, and usually it's a ghost town, with occasionally an extra person or two doing them.

Now the place is packed. Just curious as to what about patch 6.0 suddenly inspired everyone to go do them.

It's the pre-expansion lull, and people are looking for content to do that helps them out in one way or another. The Argent Tournament has a few things in it that people want right now -- heirlooms, banners that count as toys, and pets. That all leads to a situation where it's getting a lot of attention.

Probably a bit moreso since it's one of the few ways that people can get heirloom gear right now.

Curleyjoe asked:

Q4TQ: Why does my Mount page say I have 160 mounts, but my achievement say I only have 139jQuery191012170643868321773_1414077295931

First, as others pointed out in the comments, it's counting the mounts that you can use on the achievement, and the number of mounts that you have on the page.

Second, there's been a few bugs associated with the mount achievements and tab lately, so I wouldn't put much faith in those numbers right now.

ScottLeyes asked:

I'm seeing a LOT of Call of Duty ads lately, so I have to ask... When will WoW get Kevin Spacey in-game?

I would give anything to see him and Claire as the new King and Queen of Stormwind.

And Meechum. Can't forget him. He'd fit in there nicely.
