WRUP: Long hamsters edition

All for you, DA.

Long hamsters are a popular housepet in both America and Europe, available for sale at many larger pet stores. They are known to be friendly and sociable but extremely energetic, and they have a powerful scent that some people regard as unpleasant. These noble creatures are sometimes misidentified as ferrets, despite the fact that "ferret" is a common nickname for weasels thanks to their habit of ferreting out small objects. If you're interested in some long hamsters of your own, consult the internet.

This week's WRUP past the cut is awfully conspiratorial. I wonder what's up with that? We're probably planning a crime or something. Go ahead and read our own vague allusions to what we're doing below, then let us know about your weekend plans down in the comments. Also, feel free to let us know if there are any facts about long hamsters that we neglected to mention.

Beau Hindman, Columnist

@Beau_Hindman: I'm not sure where I'll be concentrating my gaming energies this weekend, but I know that I want to get some more time in RIFT and Grepolis for a series of articles. I'm also looking forward to donating to TUG and even trying a new social MMO that just went into closed beta. Other than that, I'm going to try and finish up Memoria and Lilly Looking Through, and I'm hoping to purchase Broken Age!

Bree Royce, Editor-in-Chief

@nbrianna: Been playing lots of things in several games as I install stuff on the new laptop. Got some levels on my Guild Wars 2 Engineer, working on a Diablo III Witch Doctor, got my mods set up for Oblivion (yes, Oblivion), and I've learned I'm surprisingly terrible at Starbound. Expecting more of all of that!

Eliot Lefebvre, Senior Contributing Editor

@Eliot_Lefebvre: Aside from a project I can't talk about, I'll be doing my usual junk in Final Fantasy XIV, chilling in my Free Company's new mansion and tanking stuff. I'll also try to work in a bit of Final Fantasy III and the WildStar beta.

Jasmine Hruschak, Contributing Streamer

@irljasmine: After my first week in FFXIV's Coil of Bahamut, I'm ready to spend the weekend relaxing, mostly just hanging out in major cities working on crafting. My Free Company will probably do some treasure hunting to raise funds for our house but beyond that it'll be a very low key weekend, just a bit of carpentry and maybe a dash of Nintendo 3DS gaming when I'm (gasp!) offline.

Justin Olivetti, Senior Contributing Editor

@Sypster: I've started to dabble regularly in Trove, just getting the lay of the land and experimenting with the still-basic setup of the game. Apart from that, I do need to put in some time with The Secret World, perhaps running some Transylvania missions for fun and signets.

Larry Everett, Columnist

@Shaddoe: Things are running amok (amok, amok, amok) for my characters in Star Wars: The Old Republic. However, I will not be able to do anything about it. I have another game to play for Massively that you will see later this week. I wish I could say more, but I think if you've been following me long enough, you'll know what I'm doing.

Matthew Gollschewski, Columnist

@Nonsensicles: Did you know I mildly dislike the Elder Scrolls franchise as a whole? It probably comes down to a sort of narrative uncanny valley; the games pack in so much possibility and freedom that all the little things they won't let me do chafe so badly. I can't say that fact is relevant to anything, but it does make me wonder whether the online installment might be exempt from that issue. Not that I have high hopes for it anyway. We'll see.

Oh, and I'll definitely be playing Broken Age this weekend, in short bursts sandwiched between my current MMOs: FFXIV, DC Universe Online, and World of Warcraft. It's been delightful so far, and I want to spread it out so that delight lasts a good while.

Mike Foster, Contributing Editor

@MikedotFoster: Under the advice of my legal counsel I am unable to confirm or deny that I will be engaging in the playing of any form of digital entertainment during the upcoming weekend period beginning January 31st, 2014, and ending February 2nd, 2014.

MJ Guthrie, Contributing Editor

@MJ_Guthrie: I am going to be putting more study into tank builds in The Secret World, something I never even considered previously. I'll also be putting together a DPS and a healer build, all geared towards my second date with the Gatekeeper. Other than that, I'll be poking about the WildStar beta a bit (You can watch me live at 1 p.m. EST!) and trying to complete the last of my ToV armor set in EverQuest II so I can get that last crit boost and head back into Highkeep! Of course, I will also be making my new character and starting of on my new player=run adventures in EverQuest for Choose My Adventure.

Note: We are sorry to inform readers that after this response was written, we lost MJ to a very brief and one-sided battle against EverQuest Next Landmark. Memorial services will be held on that bridge in the Karanas where everyone would constantly beg for SoW.

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
