Uncharted movie director aims to start filming early 2015

Like a lot of movies based on games, the Uncharted adaptation has been years in the not-much-making. Now, director Seth Gordon sounds unnervingly confident filming will begin around the start of next year.

"I think very early next year. That's the plan," Gordon told Zap2it. The King of Kong director added, "That's like tomorrow, essentially, because the prep is so complicated for that movie."

Other tidbits from Zap2it's interview include that the writing team "just got the script to a really good place," but Gordon is still looking for the right man to play Drake, now Mark Wahlberg is no longer on board: "I want it to be a great actor. That's number one, and then if it's someone who has an actual jaw, that's even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There's no way we'd do the inverse of that where it's somebody famous who can't [act.]"

Hey Seth, we know a man with enough jaw.

It's been a long old road for the Uncharted movie, with big directing names like David O. Russell and Neil Burger among those who've previously signed on and left the project. If production teams Atlas Entertainment and Arad Productions have their heads screwed on, they'll get the movie out by the time Uncharted 4: A Thief's End hits PS4 next year.
