Final Fantasy series developers unveil Zodiac for Vita, iOS


French developer Kobojo has assembled a team of Final Fantasy series veterans for Zodiac, an upcoming multiplayer online RPG for iOS platforms and the PlayStation Vita.

Taking place in a persistent online world, Zodiac features gameplay that spans side-scrolling 2D environments interspersed with turn-based battles. The project boasts the involvement of Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 10 scenario writer Kazushige Nojima and Final Fantasy Tactics composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, among other creative talent.

Zodiac is due to launch in 2015.

Kobojo Unveils New Persistent Online RPG Zodiac, Global Project Including Developers from Some of the Most Iconic Role-Playing Games in History

Creative minds from Final Fantasy franchise help produce, write and score upcoming multi-platform release

PARIS, TOKYO and DUNDEE, Scotland - Sept. 19, 2014 - Kobojo, the French developer creating engaging, multi-platform games with an artistic flair for mid-core players, today announced details for Zodiac, a 2D persistent online role-playing game (RPG) developed in conjunction with creative minds from the smash-hit Final Fantasy franchise. The game is being unveiled to the public for the first time this week on PlayStation® Vita and iOS devices at the Tokyo Game Show.

The multi-platform RPG, is being created by a renowned global team stretching from France to Scotland to Tokyo, including well known ex-Final Fantasy developers such as composer Hitoshi Sakimoto and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima, who combined have written, scored many of the most iconic RPGs of all time, including Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XV and the Kingdom Hearts series. All audio and sound effects are being created by Basiscape who are renowned for their work on RPG's such as Dragon's Crown, Muramasa: the Demon Blade and Valkyria Chronicles.

Zodiac blends classic elements from Japanese RPGs with beautifully 2D hand drawn art, creating a gameplay experience that is as deep and engaging as it is stylish.

Zodiac is being developed at Kobojo's new studio in Dundee, Scotland and is set to be released in 2015.

Kobojo was founded in 2008 as a social game developer, focusing on city builder and casual game genres for the Facebook platform. In 2013, the company transformed - concentrating on creating accessible, artistic and engaging RPG experiences for touch devices. The first game under this new vision, free-to-play multi-platform RPG Mutants: Genetic Gladiators, debuted on Facebook and mobile devices to global success.
