Having talked to Orphan Matron Mercy in the Lower City and received my Whistle, I used it and met my charge for the week, Dornaa. Isn't she adorable?
Dornaa wanted to see Auchindoun, so our first stop was the Ring of Observance, where Dornaa proceeded to show off her imba NPC powers by summoning an adventurer that she wasn't even grouped with. She did need my help to click on the portal, at least.
Unfortunately, the adventurer was a bit of a newbie. Everyone knows there's a reagent vendor right outside Shadow Labyrinth. He should have had his group members go buy their own reagents.
Next, Dornaa wanted to visit her brother, Jheel, who was studying Jewelcrafting with the Ethereals at Aeris Landing in Nagrand. This worked out well for me too, since it was a perfect chance to pick up my gems for the month from Gheze.
Jheel was standing right behind Gheze, so I let him and Dornaa catch up while I whined at Gheze for not giving me any blue gems again this month.
Finally, Dornaa wanted to check out the Dark Portal, since her matron was always telling stories about it. It took a bit of running around near the bottom of the stairs, but she finally figured out that we were there and started heading up.
We made it to the top just in time to see another Alliance soldier issue from the portal and say something suitably noble before charging into battle.
After we left the Dark Portal, Dornaa decided she wanted to see some stuff in Azeroth, including the Caverns of Time. Since I'm revered with the Keepers of Time, Zephyr was happy to oblige us with a teleport -- once we got her to put down her tankard and pay attention.
Whee, dragon riding is so much fun, isn't it, Dornaa? ...Dornaa? Oh, dang it. I think she fell off again.
I headed to Alurmi, the Keepers of Time Quartermaster, to buy a Toy Dragon, but at the time, Dornaa looked more interested in playing with a Warlock's Imp. Hopefully she wasn't showing any Eredar tendencies there.
I took Dornaa to meet Zaladormu in the center of the Caverns, but apparently the Wardens didn't like that too much. Luckily Zaladormu had more sense and called them off, saying that poor Dornaa shouldn't be punished now for what she may or may not do in the future. Do I smell a Warcraft 4 plot point?
Dornaa also wanted to visit the the Seat of the Naaru at the Exodar. So, I used my Moonglade Teleport to whisk us up to Northern Kalimdor. From there, we took a flight to Auberdine and hopped the boat. Those of you with no quick teleport to Northern Kalimdor can always exit the Caverns of Time and take a flight to Auberdine from Gadgetzan, or use your Hearthstone to get back to Shattrath City and take the Exodar teleport. I'd go with the former option, so you can save your Hearthstone cooldown for later. Just go make a sandwich or grab a soda while you wait for that 10 minute flight to finish.
The seat of the Naaru is in the very center of the Exodar, down a long ramp. I really didn't feel like walking all the way down, so I figured I'd try a jump or two. Dornaa wasn't so sure.
We made it down to find a couple of Blood Elves having a picnic right in the middle of the Exodar at the feet of Oros. I'm not sure why they were there, but they seemed friendly enough, so I let them alone. I didn't want to get violent in front of poor Dornaa anyway.
Dornaa skipped merrily up the ramp to meet O'ros. He gave me a blessing too, and Dornaa told me that he wished to speak with me.
Okay, here's something that fellow blogger Alex Ziebart pointed out. The Blessing of O'ros makes you feel good. So does eating Delicious Chocolate Cake. Does that mean that the Light is Cake? Honestly, that works for me, because both are pretty awesome.
So like I said, Dornaa told me O'ros wanted to talk to me. So I talked to him. Apparently Dornaa's going to grow up to be an awesome person, and it's mostly because I was cool to her, so that's pretty keen. He also told me that Nobundo, the Draenei Shaman Trainer in Exodar's Crystal Hall, wanted to see her.
So we headed up to the highest tier of the Crystal Hall and found Farseer Nobundo. Here's where things got a little strange again. Apparently, Dornaa and Nobundo had already talked to each other in a dream. In that dream, Dornaa showed that she could do some pretty amazing stuff with the elements without training, so Nobundo asked her to try to replicate the feats.
Dornaa passed the test with flying colors, managing to summon four elementals at once with no prior training and very little effort. Maybe this is a preview of a future shaman spell?
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and after our conversation with Nobundo ended, it was time to go home. We returned to the Orphanage, but Dornaa said I was her favorite big brother, and I promised I'd visit her when I could.
Technically, there's those 3 pets you get as a reward that Robin Torres showcased over in the Horde Children's Week quest gallery, but honestly, I'd rather keep Dornaa. She's way too cute and good natured.
