This map of Eregion shows the newest areas you'll see before entering the Mines themselves. You will notice Tham Murdain in the lower left corner, whee the ring forges are from Book 14.
This Eregion town is just to the northeast of the ring forges. It's a perfect example of the ruined Elven architecture of the area.

This is the gate at which Volume II begins. Talking to Rathwald will get you the first quest to enter the gate and begin your journey into Book 1.
This map is what lies beyond the gate at Echad Dunann. You will notice landmarks such as Durin's Door and the Black Pool.
The home of the Watcher in the Water, this frightening body of swampy water will become a large part of your journey into Moria.
Through the Volume II: Book 1 quest line, you'll spend most of your time helping the Dwarves access the mines. Their carelessness will come back to haunt them in the end...
This is the first site you'll see once you enter the mines. The Great Delving will be your introduction to the 500+ new quests in Moria and subsequently, Volume II, Book II.
This stable master has the new mounts for Mines of Moria, as the normal horse mounts you're used to would be spooked in the dark underground caves.
These rideable goat-like creatures can be taken throughout the mines by renting them at the Stablemaster or getting your own with reputation points. They can be taken out of the mines as well, so they're not confined to only the expansion's new areas.
This is a complete Moria map (screenshot taken from our PAX08 tour). The expansion adds 10 new areas to Eregion, 10 to the mines themselves and 2 more outside the mines in Lothlorien. You will see more detailed maps of each area to follow.

Mines of Moria introduces a brand new landscape technology that equates to two height maps: one for above you, and one for below you. This allows the developers to build a larger space without having performance issues for players. Also take note that there are no zones in Moria, except for instances.
The Endless Stair is another perfect example of the sheer size of Moria, in all directions.
The Mines of Moria are not lit by simple torches. Instead, they're lit by special iridescent geodes throughout the entire underground area. These geodes are further lit by reflective mirrors placed strategically and aimed to reflect off of the geodes and water.
This is one of the main mirrors used to light the mines from light seeping in from above.
You may recognize this bridge as the spot where Gandalf fought the Balrog. Since we arrive at the bridge after the Fellowship had already passed through, the bridge is in a crumbled state.
This aging garden is a perfect example of the history behind the mines. Once a flourishing Dwarven city, these areas are overgrown with weeds and sliding down a path to ruins since the Orcs took over.
This area's stone-carved trees were said to be influenced by pictures of overgrown ancient temples in Cambodia. The Turbine art team was so influenced by those pictures, they brought that natural beauty into Moria.
There are over 700 new monsters with this expansion. This includes new species, new boss types and a new way of visualizing monsters of the same type.
Since the monsters' armor is compartmentalized, you may see some with random armor parts that others may be missing. This keeps the Orcs looking almost unique throughout the different areas of Moria.
This sinister cousin of the Cave-Claw has evolved over generations of being kept in the darkness of the mines.
Don't be fooled by the seemingly harmless appearance of this little guy. Though they're not initially hostile towards players, these bugs can still pack a bunch.
This male version of the ever-popular female Morroval is one of the new creatures introduced with Moria.
This Orc is infected with a cave fungus that adds even more variety to the dozens and dozens of Orc species in the game.
Even worse than a forum troll is this new type of Troll introduced with Moria.
This Goblin-on-a-Warg creature acts as one single entity. However, there are certain Warg-Rider bosses that can be knocked off their mounts and fight on their own.
In the more watery areas of the mines, Salamanders, Toads and all sorts of evil amphibians haunt the pools. This Salamander looks like he's about to have some Dwarven McNuggets for dinner.
Also lurking in the watery depths are these glowing worms which are a new look for LotRO creatures.
These Goblins have a new type of glowing aura that urbine has introduced to show buffs on certain creatures. These green auras here show a healing buff, so you know what to expect from far away, before engaging combat.
These creepy crawlers represent an interesting skin on an old favorite.
There are certainly more than one type of Balrog in Moria. This is a perfect example of a new type you'll encounter much later in the game.
This is said to be one of the most difficult bosses in Moria, at the end of a 6-man instance. He is a Fusion Balrog, meaning he can switch between his Fire and Shadow skills during combat. His summoned minions add an extra special challenge to those teams seeking his hide.
New Crafting Guilds will be introduced with Moria to let players explore their crafting interests a bit more. In addition to a 6th tier being added, these guilds off your character the chance to specialize in one profession, gaining exclusive recipes through quests which will eventually grant an auto-crit recipe down the line.
The new Legendary Item system of Moria could be an entire game in itself. It was created to add more solo-ability to the end game content, and let players enjoy having their own unique items that they can name and levels as if it were a companion.
These NPCs are crucial in the development of your Legendary Items. Each item will be made up of two main parts: Legacies and Relics. These parts can each level to improve the power and buffs that your item provides. Certainly expect a complete guide to this new item system and more once Moria hit store shelves.
