Today, publisher Atlus confirmed that Persona 5 Strikers will be released in the West on February 23rd, 2021. It will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 (we assume the latter will be backwards compatible for people who have already made the jump to PlayStation 5.) The best games for PS4
With over 1,500 titles to choose from, the sheer volume of games on offer, coupled with the subjective nature of the medium, makes it impossible to be definitive. So we’re not going to be.
'Persona 5 Royal' taps into the joy of replaying your favorite game
Persona 5 was a vibrant, subversive RPG with a relatively traditional turn-based battle system, memorable characters, a plot twist or two and hundreds of persona (monsters) to fuse, fight and discover. Persona 5 Royal keeps all of that but adds a third school term to play through. It also introduces one entirely new character, Kasumi Yoshizawa, to fight with and the return of a divisive former ally. P5R's additional story kicks off right after the ending of the original game -- so after your team of outcast teens have saved the world and killed a god. It includes a new palace (the distorted 'metaverse' world where the turn-based battles take place), a new cliched antagonist and enough touches to make it feel like Persona 5, the anime movie sequel. (Yes, I'm aware there's an anime series already.) Given the current situation, it's the perfect time to replay a game you loved -- and I adored Persona 5.
Enhanced 'Persona 5 Royal' comes to the US March 31st
Persona 5 fans in Japan have had a little over a month to delve into an expanded version of the title after it debuted there at the end of October. It was always going to be the case that fans elsewhere would have to wait longer for Persona 5 Royal, but we now know when it'll be available on PS4 in North America, Europe and Australia: March 31st.
'Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE' gets an encore on Switch in January
The Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei series are pretty popular with JRPG fans, but crossover title Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE? Not so much, mostly due to being stuck on a system a lot of people never owned, the Wii U. That's about to change thanks to an upcoming port on the Switch next year.
'Persona 5 Royal' trailer offers a peek at the expanded story
Now that Persona 5 Royal is on the way to the Americas and Europe, Atlus is ready to give those audiences a taste of what to expect. It's offering an English-language trailer that highlights the new places, story scenes, abilities and characters, including the newly playable Kasumi Yoshizawa. In true Persona fashion, you can expect a lot of hyper-stylish action, world-changing events and personal drama.
'Persona 5' is coming to Switch, but not in the way you'd expect
It seems fans of Persona 5 who were hoping for a Nintendo Switch version might have made their wish on a monkey's paw. While PlayStation 4 owners are getting an expanded edition of the RPG, Switch owners will have to make do for now with Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, which is a crossover from Persona developer Altus and Dynasty Warriors studio Koei Tecmo.
Expanded 'Persona 5 Royal' debuts worldwide in 2020
If you didn't get enough of Persona 5's mix of JRPG gameplay and Japanese city life, you're in luck. Atlus has unveiled Persona 5 Royal, an expanded version of the well-received tale. It'll come to the West in 2020 (the Japanese get to play October 31st of this year) and should flesh out the game in several directions -- including, of course, dating.
