New Samsung chip to speed handset development
Perhaps it is Samsung's wish to do away with card formats like microSD in newer wireless handsets, as the Korean manufacturer has designed a four gigabyte embedded chip for phones. The purpose? Why, to get rid of that card slot once in for all and reduce the time it takes to develop software interfaces for the different types of NAND memory used in advanced (and more commonly, standard) handset designs. Samsung's moviMCP multi-chip package supports all the communications features needed in internal handset design while boasting high-speed and simplistic data transfers with its included embedded memory. Deets include four gigs of embedded memory together with a gig of mobile DRAM (CPU support) and two gigs of NAND flash for general handset operations -- all stacked on top of each other in a single chip.
Elle Glamphone slider gets FCC approval
Alcatel recently showed the world that female-type style can be found in its Elle Nº3 Glamphone, so we were glorious with delight when the Glamphone slider showed up in the FCC's database recently. We're thinking AT&T or T-Mobile will pick this handset up for the US market (it is GSM, after all), but we're leaning more towards T-Mobile give the carrier's history with hip (and hop) trends in its handset selection. When and where will it show up for sale? We're not sure. Ladies, start your engines purses.
