Square Enix in your pocket: DS edition
Unlike its PSP counterpart, the Nintendo DS has been no stranger to North American Square Enix releases. Chocobo Tales, Final Fantasy III, Children of Mana and Dragon Quest Rocket Slime have all graced their presence on Western shores. And Square Enix is far from done supporting Nintendo's money-printer.Of the eight titles, we've got 4 Final Fantasy games, 3 strategy games, 2 remakes, and one surefire Japanese phenomenon by way of Dragon Quest IX. Dragon Quest Monsters passes the million mark
SquareEnix today confirmed that one million copies of Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker have been sold in Japan since the game's release on December 28. This feat makes Dragon Quest Monsters only the second third-party DS title to achieve more than one million sales in Japan, following on from Bandai's success last year with Tamagotchi no Puchi Puchi. DQM had been sold out in many stores across Japan this past week, with shortages so severe that Joker plummeted from second place in the Japanese sales chart to 42nd place. Stocks were replenished yesterday, however, and the demand for Dragon Quest Monsters (which is merely a tasty appetizer to enjoy before Dragon Quest IX is served) has immediately pushed SquareEnix' game beyond the milestone of a million sales.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker scan
The Pokemon of Dragon Quests, Dragon Quest Monsters, has been a hit in Japan and the newest installment, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker is headed to fans hopefully this Fall season. A spin-off to the Dragon Quest RPG series, it features art by the infamous Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball). All of the Dragon Quest games have featured his same character design and honestly, its getting a little old. True the same can be said about Final Fantasy designer Yoshitaka Amano, but it depends on your taste. With Wi-Fi availability and new ways to become a Monster Master, maybe fans here would get a rise out of this. It's worth a shot, right Square? [Via QJ Net]
