All good things must come to an end, and that's the case for Drowning in Snow. We've been bringing you the chapters for several months now, but it's time for the story to fade off into the sunset, with the heroes riding off in triumph... Wait, no, that's not right at all. When we last left the adventurers Kira and Uriel, they weren't riding off in triumph. They were knee-deep in betrayal, which throws the entire story up to this point into question. So it does seem they've got a little adventuring left to do, doesn't it? Massively Exclusive: RIFT - Drowning in Snow, Chapter V
For the past several months, Trion Worlds and Massively have been bringing you installments of Drowning in Snow, a special fiction piece for RIFT following two Defiants as they trek across frozen tundra on a rescue mission. We've waited a bit longer than normal since the last chapter, and it's been a wait made all the worse because the last chapter ended on quite a cliffhanger, implying that Uriel and Kira had a traitor to contend with. The wait for the next part is over as of today, however, and we can promise you that this installment will indeed answer the question of who the traitor is. Since April, Massively and Trion Worlds have been revealing installments of Drowning in Snow, a story intended to flesh out the lore of the ever-popular RIFT. Today, we publish the fourth chapter in this ongoing saga as it follows Kira Thanos and Uriel Chuluun, a pair of Defiant who traverse the treacherous, frozen heights of Abyssal Precipice to rescue the Eth woman Shiyesa Wohab from a band of insane cultists. Last April, Massively brought you the first part of an exclusive RIFT lore reveal called Drowning in Snow. The story introduced Kira Thanos and Uriel Chuluun, a pair of Defiant agents about to embark on an important mission given to them by the Faceless Man. Today we bring you the story's second installment which finds our heroes riding deep into the snowbound wilderness near Iron Pine Peak. Chapter two boasts quite a bit more action than its predecessor, and our protagonists must contend with a water rift and the havoc it inevitably brings (including a monstrous crab-like creature intent on making a meal out of Uriel). Exclusive: RIFT's lore is Drowning in Snow
Many players of Trion's breakout MMO do not always absorb the vast lore that so richly paints RIFT's landscape. Most of the time, we are more concerned about jumping to the next raid, rift or dungeon. We miss that there is actually a deep history to the world of Telara, and our characters are a part of it -- literally. Trion has given Massively readers an exclusive preview of some of the upcoming stories behind the game -- the first part of Drowning in Snow, a story about Kira Thanos and her companion Uriel Chuluun. Although we do not quite know where this adventure will ultimately take the Kelari and Bahmi duo, the underlying tension is already evident in these first few scenes. We also know Regulos will not stop until all of Telara is under his control!
