GOG has added 10 more jams to its ever-growing list of OSX-compatible games, almost all of which have never been available on an Apple platform previously. Mac folk running OSX 10.6.8 or newer can now partake in Syndicate Wars, Rise of the Triad: Dark War, Blade Stone: Planet Strike, Strike Commander, Slipstream 5000, Darklands and Litil Divil. Anyone with OSX 10.7 or newer can also pick up Evil Genius, the phenomenal Guilty Gear X2 #Reload and the experimental (for better or worse) Guilty Gear Isuka. As is typically the case at GOG, most of these games also include bonus goodies, ranging from digital manuals, to wallpapers and complete soundtracks.

Aliens vs. Predator developer Rebellion is giving itself something new to rant about, opening a division for the creation of social games. After launching a Facebook game based on the Evil Genius IP it acquired from Vivendi, it is putting more resources into the development of games for social networks. No specific projects from this division have been announced. In a statement on the company's website, CEO Jason Kingsley said that " The release of Evil Genius has given us an appetite to look at other opportunities in the area," noting that gamers can no longer be defined just as console owners. CTO Chris Kingsley called Evil Genius "a fun and rewarding project." In addition to this new undertaking, Rebellion also recently announced that its Asura Engine supports both the 3DS and the NGP.

If you're not keeping up with the PvP tournament scene, this is a friendly reminder that MLG DC starts tonight at 8:00 p.m. EST. You can watch the MLG stream at MLGPro.com when it starts. I'll be in attendance at the event personally, so if you have any questions you want answered by the teams and players, leave a comment and I'll do my best. The WoW tournament will only run for a couple hours tonight, then continue all day Sunday. Notable teams competing are Nerdstomper Blue, the winners of MLG Raleigh, and their sister team Nerdstomper Black. Also in attendance are Arenapwnage, Evil Geniuses, Complexity Red and Black, Skill Capped, and Penguin Smash. Unfortunately, as World of Ming reports, the tournament will not be played with the new 4.0.1 patch. Apparently, there was a conflict with MLG's viewing client and the new patch.

You probably don't need to buy 11 games this weekend, but for the low-low asking price of (approximately) $41, GOG.com is offering a smattering of Rebellion's titles. The entire Empire Earth series, Judge Dredd's battle against an entire planet, and Evil Genius (among others) are on sale for 30 percent off individually or 50 percent off in a big ol' bundle. Forget about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and next week's Vanquish -- you've got strategy games to play. For, like, ever. The sale ends Monday at 11:59PM EDT, so get on it before these good old games go back to more appropriate prices.

The latest WoW champions in the 2010 MLG Pro Circuit are the members of Nerdstomper Blue, who claimed their victory Sunday evening in Raleigh. It was a close win for Nerdstomper Blue, after its opponents, Evil Geniuses, won the first set of the finals three to one. Evil Geniuses entered the finals from the lower bracket, though, and needed two winning sets to claim the championship. Things seemed doubtful for Nerdstomper Blue after it lost the first two games of the second set, but it made an impressive comeback, winning three games in a row and taking the championship. In addition to the $9,000 prize for first place, Nerdstomper Blue will now be seeded favorably at the MLG Finals in Dallas later this year. If you missed the livestream, you can still watch the rebroadcast from Sunday's games at MLG's site. For those of you who are curious, Nerdstomper Blue used a shadowplay comp (priest-warlock-shaman) for their first set against Evil Geniuses, then switched to RLS (rogue-warlock-shaman) for the second. Evil Geniuses used RLS for both sets. Congratulations to Realz, Glickz and Kollektiv of Nerdstomper Blue!

  • Rebellion acquires Vivendi properties, details future plans

You may recall that, last week, Rebellion announced plans to release several of its titles on GOG.com. Here's the thing you might have missed: Rebellion didn't actually make the games that it was releasing on the service. As it turns out, Rebellion purchased the rights to several of Vivendi's properties in the wake of its merger with Activision last year. Big Download reports that Rebellion has "complete ownership of the IP" to Evil Genius, Ground Control, Empire Earth, Lords of the Realm, and Lords of Magic. In addition to allowing the release of previous titles in each series, Rebellion also has the right to create new entries if it so wishes, with CEO Jason Kingsley telling Big Download, "we're putting our plans together for new titles in each series." Any sequels are on hold for the moment, though, as Kingsley notes that Rebellion is "super busy" with both Aliens vs Predator and Rogue Warrior.Rebellion is offering the Vivendi properties via GOG.com and Steam as part of its first steps into digital distribution, which Kingsley calls an "exciting area" for the company; one that "makes developing a smaller high quality game more possible for a developer working on their own."

Before teaming up with Sega recently for a new iteration of Aliens vs Predator, UK development house Rebellion made a handful of classic PC titles (yes, we know, including the original Aliens vs Predator). Starting today and continuing over the course of the next few weeks, GOG.com will be offering the company's titles through its site (DRM-free, XP and Vista compatible game, priced to move), starting with Ground Control (Dark Conspiracy expansion included) and Evil Genius. Lords of Magic, Empire Earth, "and more" are in the pipeline for the next few weeks. To celebrate the release, the fine folks at Good Old Games were nice enough to hand us a few codes -- seven in all, just to keep you on your toes -- for not just the games released today but, well, anything on the site you'd like. That's right, folks, you can use the codes on anything from Elixir's Evil Genius to Ubisoft's Beyond Good & Evil to Epic's Unreal Tournament (and everything in between, in case you were wondering). All you have to do is keep your eye on the Joystiq Twitter page over the course of the day to try and win one of them. Hit the break for an exhilarating explanation of how to redeem a code.Update: All codes have been redeemed! Thanks to everyone who participated and to GOG.com for providing us with the codes.
