It would appear that some aren't exactly believing Matt at IGN's Alpha of Halo DS, both in the comments of that post and the embedded video above. YouTube user SwiftShock thinks he has the answer to the whole debate and is of the mind that the game is nothing more than a modded version of GoldenEye: Rogue Agent.[Via Go Nintendo]

  • Halo DS rises from ashes, videos unearthed

And the mighty wheel just keeps on turning. Matt Cassamassina of IGN, in his age old quest to prove to the world that a DS version of Halo was once in the cards, has posted video of the game in action. Remember now, Bungie has directly denied that a Bungie sanctioned Halo DS ever existed. Cassamassina insists that the version shown in the video was not made by a "garage developer" and that it had a major publisher behind it at one point. He elaborates that the project was canceled for reasons he cannot discuss. Of course, Bungie themselves admitted that prototypes were likely made by outside companies in order to pitch the idea, and it's still possible that we're seeing such a thing here. Our only question is why now? Why are these videos just now surfacing? If the proof has been available for this long, we wonder what caused the delay. We're sure all you're really interested in are the videos though. Check 'em out after the break.

  • Halo DS plot thickened by video footage

Just as the plot is thickening, you may find the reported cancellation of Halo DS particularly sickening. IGN Nintendo editor-in-chief, Matt Cassamassina, has updated his personal blog with footage of what appears to be the near-mythical portable version of Bungie's ludicrously popular sci-fi shooter. Halo DS is seen sporting the franchise's familiar cyborg, weapons, theme music and a cute logo that should prevent anyone from pronouncing it "Halods" (which sounds like a terribly debilitating gum disease). If you still believe this to be an elaborate, attention-grabbing fake, feel free to watch an additional video on Cassamassina's blog and post a reply to a comment by IGN's Mark Bozon, who eloquently challenges you to "Call BS on that, bitches."[Thanks, Squeekyclean]

Remember when IGN's Matt Casamassina said he was going to reveal a DS Halo game? No, the other time. The time when he said we were all going to be owned. Well, it didn't happen-- we'd probably remember if it did, and if we didn't, our search feature would. We don't feel owned.According to a post on the IGN forums by Mr. Casamassina, the ownage has merely been delayed until after E3. He's already drained pretty much any goodwill Halo fans may have had toward him, so he can afford to take his time. After being jerked around so long, we doubt we can be owned by Halo DS news.
