Every year as the seasons begin to change, Apple has an event or two scheduled to announce the latest additions to the product line. And like clockwork, the London (UK) Mac User Group (LMUG) schedules a fun event for its members and others who want the excitement of being in Cupertino – without the long flight and jet lag. This year on September 9, LMUG has a special event scheduled to start at 1730 "in the Groovy Wonderland at the Tiger Tiger Nightclub just off Piccadilly in Central London. " With a club name like that, we'd expect Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery to be the emcee. Steve Naybour of LMUG says that they picked Tiger Tiger – one of the largest nightclubs in London – to accommodate the every-growing crowds attending the keynotes. The venue of state-of-the-art sound system and Naybour says that "Tim has never sounded so good!" Another LMUG tradition is keynote bingo, with valuable prizes. They have the bingo cards for this year's event under wraps in a "secret London location" until the night of the keynote, so there will be no way for attendees to attempt to gain an advantage. To give you an example of what one of the keynote bingo cards looks like, the one below was from the iPhone 5s event last year: There's a special Happy Hour planned, and the bar will be serving food all night. You will need to RSVP for the event on Meetup – if you're thinking of attending, be sure to respond quickly!

I'm always impressed with the Steve Naybour and the folks at the London Mac User Group (LMUG). Any time there's a scheduled Apple livestreamed event, they seem to get together to watch -- and usually do a little partying as well. For those in London on Monday, LMUG is hosting an event at the London Transport Museum in Convent Garden. The doors open at 5:15 PM London time and the event will start at 6 PM, so get there on time. They have access to a 110-seat theatre with a 23-foot screen, a bar (!!!), and will not only have a raffle but also playing the "very successful LMUG WWDC Keynote Bingo" with prizes. LMUG members get in for free, while guests pay just £5. You need to book your reservation now on Meetup -- space is limited. Hats off to TechSmith for providing support for the LMUG team to get this put together. Now, if LMUG can just provide me with return air tickets from Denver, I'll be there...

If you're an Apple fan, all the fun is happening out in San Francisco at 10 AM PDT. That makes those on the other side of the pond feel especially far away from the action. However, if you're here in London why not share the excitement of today's WWDC keynote with other Apple aficionados? Once again, London Mac User Group is holding a special event during today's keynote. The event is being held in the downstairs bar of The Old Explorer Pub on Great Castle Street in the West End. There'll be food, pints and Apple bingo. Attendees will also have a chance to win an iPad mini. The event begins at 5:30 PM -- that's 30 minutes before the keynote's 6 PM London-time start time. The entrance fee is £3, but free to all LMUG members. More information about the meet up can be found here. The Old Explorer Pub is located at 23 Great Castle street, London, W1G 0JA. You can find directions to the pub on the pub's website.

The London Mac User Group knows how to have fun when there are Apple events. According to Steve Naybour of the group, they'll once again be meeting at a pub (this time, the Wood Pub in Marylebone, London) and want any TUAW readers or Apple lovers in the area to drop in. LMUG will be featuring coverage starting at 1730 GMT, with three projector screens on which they'll display the news, video (if any), Twitter feeds, pictures, and liveblogs. Naybour invites "anyone from the site who happens to be in town, or any of your readers ... to come to the free event, grab a beer, a Thai curry and watch the details of the iPad 3." The official Facebook invitation can be found here along with a map to the pub. The group's resident artist Paul Kercal made a special poster to celebrate as seen at right, and even created a short video (below) showing his work as it was progressing. Enjoy the video, and let us know if you attend the get-together on Wednesday.
