Fujitsu's LifeBook UH900 gets reviewed, notable flaws found
There's no question that Fujitsu's LifeBook UH900 is a niche device; much like Sony's VAIO P, there's just not a lot of demand for an expensive clamshell with an extremely high resolution and an exceptionally cramped keyboard. That said, there's a curious seduction surrounding this thing, and critics over at Pocketables seemed to agree. After spending some long days (and nights, don'tcha know?) with the Japanese version of this here device, they came away with a huge mixed bag of emotions. On one hand, the snappy performance and excellent portability made it difficult to put down, but the downright dreadful 2 - 2.5 hours of battery life more or less forced them to. There's also more gentle gripes about the screen color, the "toy-like" build quality and "useless multitouch." For us, that's probably one flaw too many to accept, but the forgiving among us should definitely check out the full skinny before making a final call.

Fujitsu's LifeBook UH900 started shipping to Americans just over a fortnight ago, and now one has landed into the capable hands of Pocketables. Boasting a 2GHz Atom CPU and some of the most unsightly adapters we've ever seen, this flip-open handheld -- which just looks too lovely to be saddled with the "UMPC" moniker -- strangely stirs something within our heart. Fujitsu's FMV LOOX U C50N bumped up to 2GHz Atom Z550 proc, won't look back
Fujitsu just stuffed Intel's latest Atom chip, the 2GHz Atom Z550, into the FMV LU C50N UMPC, the Japanese LOOX U version of its U2010 / U820 UMPC. Of course, the processor breaks through Microsoft's restrictions on XP for netbooks, so out of the box you'll have to take the performance hit of Vista, and then perhaps get in on some Windows 7 RC action to really feel the speed boost. Other specs include just about anything else you might imagine could or couldn't fit into this form factor -- including a 5.6-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen.[Via jkkmobile]
Fujitsu U2010 comes to Japan as the LOOX U / B50N, all tokidoki'd up
Sure, we're getting Fujitsu's U2010 convertible UMPC Stateside pretty soon as the LifeBook U820, but we're crazy jealous that our friends in Japan are getting this hot tokidoki version, labeled as the LOOX U / B50N. Same kit underneath, but we'd bet that exclusive limited-edition skin will command a premium -- now if we only had pricing info, we'd know whether or not to get our clandestine grey-market importers on the case. Fujitsu's LOOX U50XN now configurable with 64GB SSD
Fujitsu's marvelously light LOOX U50XN -- better known as the U810 here in the States -- just keeps getting better. Apparently, to-be owners in Japan can now snag one with an oh-so-coveted 64GB SSD, though all the other specs look to remain identical to what we've already seen. 'Course, adding such a fine piece of hardware won't come cheap -- as a matter of fact, you'll be forced to cough up an extra ¥95,000 ($887) for the privilege. Oh, and the unconfirmed word on the street has the new drive option coming stateside in March, but don't bet the farm on that just yet, alright?[Thanks, Paul P.]
Fujitsu's LOOX U50XN ultra-portable PC gets colored
It's been a tick since Fujitsu's LOOX ultra-portable PC lineup has garnered our attention, but there's no better way to do that than offer up the machine in four dazzling colors and bump the hardware while you're at it. The FMV-U50XN is now available in white, blue, black and red color schemes, and includes an 800MHz Intel A110 processor, up to 1GB of DDR2 RAM, between 20GB and 40GB of hard drive space, a 5.6-inch LED-backlit LCD with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, 802.11b/g, USB 2.0, VGA output, SD / CF card slots, an integrated speaker, and Windows Vista to boot.
