Man, has it really been that long since those Pokémon hit the scene? Right now, we feel incredibly old, but don't let our impending deaths bring you down! This week on the Nintendo Channel, a pair of suspiciously attractive PokéTrainers talk about their favorite moments in the franchise. We thought it prudent to take a break from the WarioWare D.I.Y. highlighting of the last few weeks even though there's a new video in the ongoing series this week, with Alex Neuse from Gaijiin Games. See, this week some of the developers from Capcom show off a great deal of Monster Hunter Tri, documenting some of the weaponry, multiplayer features and, of course, the monsters in the series' latest. It's an enlightening few minutes of footage, so check it out above. When you're done, head past the break for the full list of this week's Nintendo Channel content. %Gallery-86439%

With the release of WarioWare D.I.Y. Showcase this week, Nintendo is still in hype mode for its mini-game generation suite. Impressive! So be sure to soak in the new video above, then head past the break for some new DS demos and the rest of this week's video content.

The Nintendo Channel is celebrating WarioWare D.I.Y. this week by showing how renowned developer Masahiro Sakurai decided to use the software. In the near five minute clip above, he takes us through all of the steps of game creation -- from basic concept to pixel art to gameplay mechanics. It's a brief yet inspired look at how anyone can create a game in Nintendo's unique new entry in the WarioWare series. This week's Nintendo Channel update is about as light as it gets. Sure, there's a new DS demo to check out and a pair of TV spots for Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver -- but that's about it. Oh, you don't believe us? Well, that hurts our feelings, but, by all means, check out the full list of this week's content past the break for yourselves. We'll just wait for you in the corner with our broken heart.

    02.22.2010

This week, the Nintendo Channel is a bit light on content. There's a new Deca Sports DS demo to check out, but, aside from that, we found ourselves looking to Nintendo Week -- the weekly Nintendo-produced video marketing exercise -- for entertainment. It's a nautically themed episode this week, complete with brief and completely inappropriate bouts of screaming. Who knew ship captains were so deranged? ... Oh, right. By now, European Wii owners probably feel like they've been waiting for Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth since the actual 16-bit generation. We're happy to report that, according to the Nintendo Channel, the WiiWare reimagining of the Game Boy's Castlevania: The Adventure will be released in Europe next Friday, February 26. As always, it's a rare treat to know ahead of time when a WiiWare game's coming out -- especially when it's a game someone out there may actually be interested in buying. Everyone, buy the Rebirth games so we can get a Parodius or Mystical Ninja Rebirth! [Via GoNintendo]

    02.15.2010

The crew behind Nintendo Week, the promotional video series produced by Nintendo, must have finally discovered the wonder of The Caruso. This week's episode on the Nintendo Channel parodies the drama in a way only a family friendly Nintendo program can. Basically, somebody broke a lamp and it's up to Gary and Allison to find out who. Gripping crime drama, we know. Head past the break for the full list of this week's content.

  • This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Nintendo Week rips the lid off of it

    02.08.2010

We usually don't buy into Nintendo Week's particular brand of family-friendly hype generation -- after all, this is a Nintendo-funded program and we'll be damned if we're going to let The Man tell us what we're going to like. But this week's update on the Nintendo Channel is pretty amusing, especially if you enjoy fake mustaches, fourth wall destruction and tips on playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Or, you know, ripping the lids off various things. Head past the break for this week's content.

We usually write off Nintendo Week as nothing more than the usual PR flim-flam, but this week's episode on the Nintendo Channel is one to watch. The segments on Muscle March, Super Mario RPG and Little King's Story are nice, but there's an important lesson to be learned here: New Super Mario Bros. Wii ruins friendships. If you plan on partaking in Mario and Co.'s latest outing on the Wii, make sure those bonds are krazy glue strong; otherwise, you'll do something cliched ... like divide the room in half with tape. Head past the break for this week's Nintendo Channel content and be sure to check out the new Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth demo!

  • Nintendo releases budget line in Japan based on Nintendo Channel rankings

    01.21.2010

Nintendo of Japan just launched a line of budget Wii re-releases -- something that hasn't happened out of Nintendo in a long time. The Minna no Osusume Selection (Everyone's Recommendation Selection) is a series of third-party games marked down to ¥2,800 ($30.53), and given new box art that pretty much obscures the original image, making it really difficult to tell which game it is. Since the best-selling Wii games are all still selling at full price, Nintendo determined the titles to be released in this collection in a really smart way: with user recommendations from the Nintendo Channel. Each of the games is given a "medal" rank based on the user response, with the most recommended game on the list being Chunsoft's visual novel 428. Other titles in the collection include Muramasa, Arc Rise Fantasia, We Ski & Snowboard, and One Piece and Dragon Ball Z games. See the full list of initial releases after the break.

    01.18.2010

This week's Nintendo Channel update has been pumped up beyond all recognition, and not because there's a bunch of new stuff to look at. In fact, there's really not that much at all, save for some new No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle teasers; however, the inclusion of a brief Muscle March info trailer is enough for us to question whether or not this week's update is on some kind of performance-enhancing drug. We've contacted the appropriate authorities, but in the meanwhile, head past the break for this week's content. %Gallery-79350%

This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Calling has a story

It seems the Nintendo Channel is still in vacation mode, because there isn't much in the way of new content this week. Sure, there's some No More Heroes 2 footage to check out -- odds are you've already seen it on our site -- but the only genuinely new and interesting video is the story trailer above for Hudson's survival-horror game, Calling. To say that No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is an odd game is a gross understatement. The first game was certifiably insane (in a very good way), and the pair of new trailers for the game (one above, one past the break) on the Nintendo Channel keep that theme alive. They're both just downright odd, mixing together -- you know what? Just watch them. We're not even going to attempt to define what's here. Ever since we reported that Scene It? Twilight would grace the Wii and DS, we've gotten countless emails looking for the hot scoops on this new product. Well, would-be Bellas and Edwards, you may want to sink your teeth into the Nintendo Channel today, as there's a smoking hot new video about the game. In short: it's pretty much just like the regular Scene It? game. Head past the break for the full list of this week's content.

You're going to have to take our word for it: Ubisoft's promo for Just Dance is easily the best video on the Nintendo Channel this week. Not only does it feature fat people falling down (who are always fodder for a shameless laugh), but it's got kids dancing and -- well, we don't want to ruin the rest for you. Just boot up your Wii and check it out. Seriously, do it. Head past the break for the full list of this week's content. %Gallery-70594%

When we heard about Stop Stress: A Day of Fury, we were pretty interested. It's not that we have above-normal levels of stress or anything, it's all about the method Jack employs. After checking out the game's info video on the Nintendo Channel this week, we can safely say that Jack just has a short fuse. Hey, Jack, we deal with large, autonomous copy machines all the time and you don't see us going on a rampage. Seriously, stop being such a spaz! • This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Jon Heder shows off Flipnote Studio

Apparently, Jon Heder has been spending his downtime with Nintendo's Flipnote Studio. The video above shows the actor knows how to do a thing or two with Nintendo's software, though you'll find his doodlings are severely lacking in Ligers. Still, it's a neat video for some very neat -- and very free -- software for your DSi. Head past the break for the full list of this week's Nintendo Channel content.
