We usually don't heap praise on Nintendo Week, Nintendo's promotional video that coincides with the Nintendo Channel update each week. It's usually just a bunch of PR junk, but this week's video has something we never thought we'd see: a man tossing a fully-cooked turkey out of a second-story window, down to the eager, waiting arms of a wizard. It's just so oddly pleasant, we couldn't pass it up as the highlight for this week's post. The holidays really are a magical time of year! Head past the break for the full list of this week's Nintendo Channel updates.

Wow, guys, you really like your Super Smash Bros. Brawl, eh? Nintendo Channel data reveals the fighter has spun around in Wii disc drives for a collective 100 million hours and then some. On average, each gamer has put just over 73 total hours in. To put some perspective on the figure, some of Nintendo's most notable titles haven't even come close to approaching 100 million hours played. Mario Kart Wii has only been played for 46 million hours, while Super Mario Galaxy has managed a mere 34 million hours in total. Wii Sports, however, remains the obvious top game played, netting a total play time of 105 million hours. [Via Coffee with Games & Go Nintendo]

There aren't many new videos to watch in this week's Nintendo Channel update that you haven't already seen online, but Ubisoft does give us a quick look at creating "Barabbid Obama" -- or just "R'Obama," in the streetz -- in Rabbids Go Home, the obvious highlight in this week's post. Oh, and we do learn one very important fact: Rabbids enjoy wearing thong underwear. What? Hey, even Rabbids need to feel sexy sometimes.

  • This Week on the Nintendo Channel: It's a New Super Mario Bros. world

Nintendo has unloaded a pair of TV spots for upcoming New Super Mario Bros. Wii and they're pretty slick. Each features a foursome of gamers playing the new Nintendo title while surrounded in what seems to be a convergence of the Mushroom Kingdom and reality -- not unlike the plot of the horrible 1993 film. Unlike that movie, however, these ads are entirely watchable. But, before you boot up your Wii and check 'em out for yourself, head past the break to see the rest of this week's Nintendo Channel content.

This week's Nintendo Channel highlight is obviously the play session of New Super Mario Bros. with Nintendo Week hosts Gary and Alison, along with Nintendo's Bill Trinen and gaming icon Shigeru Miyamoto -- a video which even has a brief look at Excitebike World Rally. It's not that there's anything terribly exciting or new in this video, but, well ... we just love New Super Mario Bros.! Is that such a bad thing? Oh, and by the way, Shiggy is totally a tweaker.

This week's most noteworthy item on the Nintendo Channel is undoubtedly the unveiling of Excitebike World Rally -- if you haven't had a chance to check out the brief trailer for November's WiiWare racer then, by all means, get with the clicking. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, then we suggest you check and make sure it's still breathing, because a new Excitebike is definitely a fancy tickler. Turn on your Wii and check out the Nintendo Channel right now: on the weekly "Nintendo Week" program, the hosts revealed a new WiiWare version of Excitebike, called Excitebike World Rally, due out November 9. It looks like a 2.5D version of the original Excitebike redone in polygons, with the classic track editor. But this version has online multiplayer! Take that, Vs. Excitebike. There's also footage of Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth! It looks fantastic. That comes pretty early in the show. The Excitebike reveal comes only after a Frag Doll appearance and a Scooby-Doo style fast-motion chase sequence. And a zombie grunting his way through a description of Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

This week's Nintendo Channel update is chock full of Wii Fit Plus stuff again, but we'd like to draw your attention to the video tutorial on how to play Tony Hawk Ride. It answers a lot of the super important questions we've had -- like, "Does this peripheral work with both male and female gamers?" and, "Is this one of the most advanced game controllers ever created?"Head past the break for the full list of this week's content.

  • Sin and Punishment 2 trailers from the Japanese Nintendo Channel

Two exclusive trailers for Treasure's Sin and Punishment 2 have made it to Japan's Nintendo Channel in anticipation of the game's October 29 release. It's pretty much the opposite of the North American Nintendo Channel's most notable exclusive offering, the Nintendo Week show. At least, thanks to YouTube user Nintendaan's efforts, we can see the gorgeous gameplay footage. The first trailer is all gameplay, demonstrating the ability to shoot from the ground or fly at any time, and also revealing a Bangai-O Spirits-like ability to knock back large missiles. The second trailer is an unexpectedly somber (and incomprehensibly Japanese) overview of the story. Warning: don't get too excited about the story in any Treasure game.

We hope you like watching people exercise, because that's about all there is on the Nintendo Channel this week. Outside of that, there's also a look at Miis in Tony Hawk Ride and a brief clip of Space Invaders Extreme 2, if that's your cup of tea. (Protip: It's totally your cup of tea. You drink it all of the time.)%Gallery-65357%

Like this week's NintendoWare Weekly update, this week's Nintendo Channel goodies are a bit on the light side. Sure, there's the launch video for Dead Space Extraction and the new Nintendo Week show, but the real prize is the new TV spot for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. If you've been doing your due diligence with Animal Crossing: City Folk, know that Nintendo has a full month of activities ahead for October. The first item on the agenda is giving you a nice pile of trash. No, seriously, if you connect your Wii to the internet, you can get a letter from Nintendo with a free pile of leaves attached. It should go wonderfully with that trashcan you have sitting in your house's corner. Head past the break for the rest of this week's content on the Nintendo Channel.%Gallery-27704%

    09.21.2009

This week's NIntendo Channel update doesn't bring anything new. The variety of videos on offer are likely those that you've seen on this very site, including the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized trailer and some old Shaun White 2 gameplay. And we hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's not looking too good on the DS demo front either. Head past the break for the full list. [image credit]

Sure, the Nintendo Channel may have received quite the facelift today, adding a host of new features and tossing a much needed fresh coat of paint on top of it all, but the best and brightest of the new content on offer is undoubtedly the behind the scenes look at Scribblenauts. We say this because, well, everything Scribblenauts wins. Sorry, interesting and informative Dead Space Extraction video! You picked the wrong week to be new. Anywho, if you've got a Wii, check out the Nintendo Channel for a bunch of new content. Or, if you're lazy and want to know what's there before booting up the system, head past the break where we've got you covered, baby!

Don't have the whole Labor Day holiday off to play games? Why not take a tiny break from your work to play a tiny portion of a video game -- provided you're within distance of a Wii? There are some new demos up on the Nintendo Channel if you haven't bothered to download any DS demos in the last couple of months. (That's our polite way of saying the demos are old. And that is our extremely rude way of explaining an obvious statement.)Video-wise, more real people are getting their Layt on, and another Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story video is available. We don't remember there ever being an announcement per se, but that's coming out next week. Amazing! Check the list after the break.

This week, WayForward's Sean Velasco offers Nintendo Channel viewers a look at the delightful-looking A Boy and His Blob, describing the colorful sidescrolling adventure as "a sincere game in a cynical time." We suppose that the level of interest the game inspires could be related to your own cynicism. In short, if the look of this game does nothing for you, you're either too cynical or you've spent too much time playing the NES game. Nintendo has made a bold move with Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. Instead of having plastic or cardboard (see: fake) people promote the game, Nintendo has put it into the hands of real flesh-and-blood individuals. Will it pay off for the company to promote the game via the everyman, or should it have stuck with its usual people who have too much money to play games?Hit the jump for this week's content on the Nintendo Channel.

This Week on the Nintendo Channel presents the lengthy video you see above. It's a developer diary talking about all of the hard work that went into combining all of the Metroid Prime games into one delicious, tinned package. 08.10.2009

It would be a kind of blah week on the Nintendo Channel, due to nothing but old demos and generally unexciting videos -- if not for the inclusion of a gameplay trailer for today's most extreme release, Rock 'N Roll Climber. There is no way to feel anything less than amped about a game that combines the dangerously awesome sport of rock climbing with the rebellious, implied rocking of air guitar. After the break, you can see the full list. Spoiler alert: none of the demos involve rocking or rock climbing.
