Fire up Software Update, sports fans; there are two updates available this afternoon for slightly obscure corners of the Mac OS X world. First, it's the Digital Camera RAW compatibility update version 3.7, which adds import savvy to iPhoto '11 and Aperture for several cameras: the Fujifilm FinePix X100, Nikon D5100, Olympus E-PL2, Olympus XZ-1 and the Samsung GX-1S. The 6.62 MB update requires Mac OS X 10.6.6 or 10.5.8; for information on all the RAW formats supported in Mac OS X 10.6, check here. Second, we have the ProKit 7.0 update for Apple's high-end creative apps, which offers the following fixes for minor issues: Improved support for PopOver style tooltips. Improved support for Font Smoothing. Addresses an issue with an unwanted gap between a menu and submenu. Fixes leaks and improves stability for the color picker and timecode interface in Final Cut Pro and Motion. Improved compatibility when importing assets from older versions of Soundtrack Pro. Fixes an issue with the scrubber appearance in Logic Express and Logic Pro. Addresses AppKit related crashes in Motion. Apple recommends the ProKit 7.0 update for all users of Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, iPhoto, Aperture, Final Cut Express, Logic Pro, MainStage, Logic Express and iAd Producer. It's 15.7 MB and requires Mac OS X Snow Leopard, 10.6.7.

Three big updates just showed up in Software Update: Aperture 3.1, Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 3, and ProKit Update. Aperture 3.1 weighs in at nearly 375 MB. Aside from the usual improvements to "overall stability and performance," Aperture 3.1 brings compatibility with the brand new iLife '11 suite. There's also a whole host of bug fixes -- too many to list here, honestly. Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 3 is about 78 MB and updates Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_22. The ProKit Update "fixes issues with user interface software that is shared by Apple's professional applications," which includes Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Aperture, Final Cut Express, Soundtrack, Logic Studio, Logic Pro, MainStage, WaveBurner and Logic Express. The specific issues this ~14 MB update addresses: -- Improves reliability for browsing iPhoto libraries in Aperture. -- Addresses cosmetic issue with appearance of disclosure triangles in Aperture. -- Fixes a problem in Logic Pro and MainStage where numeric parameters display incorrect information. All three updates are available via Software Update now, so fire it up.

In the hustle and bustle of product introductions today, another couple of software updates slipped out the door. The 16 MB iPhoto 7.1.2 update promises the "overall stability" we all crave, while the ProKit update (no link on Apple's site yet) "improves reliability for Apple's professional applications and is recommended for all users of Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Express, Aperture, Logic Studio and Logic Express."Meanwhile, in a separate security bulletin (link as in the image), Apple acknowledged an iPhoto vulnerability that would allow a maliciously-crafted photocast to hijack your machine, if you were to subscribe to it; said vulnerability is now fixed in 7.1.2. Yikes. Full details after the jump.Your mileage, as always, may vary. Thanks Erik!
