After having some quality time with a pair of imports yesterday, we got to wondering: what imports would you want to be able to download from the Virtual Console? With generations of consoles supported by the service, there's plenty of old school imports to ponder downloading. So, what will it be? We've already gotten some great imports in the past (Sin & Punishment, Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels), but what would you like to be able to play in the future?

  • Treasure working on two Wii games! But ...

In an interview with CNet Japan, Treasure president Masato Maegawa revealed that the company, having finished work on the XBLA version of Ikaruga and the DS Bangai-O Spirits, is working on two new games for Wii. Being in a Treasure state of mind, our first impulse was to SET THE 68000 HEART ON FIRE with excitement. However, our excitement was tempered by the news that these two games, which are designed to make use of motion controls, will be in 3D. Sin and Punishment is great and all, but Treasure's record is spotty at best in 3D games, as anyone who has played Stretch Panic or the merely-good Wario World will tell you. Maybe one of these is the rumored sequel to Sin and Punishment. That would be perfectly okay![Via IGN]

Team Fortress 2 (Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3)While Portal is being given its much deserved credit for the year, and Half-Life 2 has enjoyed years of acclaim, let's not forget about the other pillar of Valve's The Orange Box. It's been eight years since the release of Team Fortress Classic, and the game has undergone so many revisions and delays we half expected it to be released alongside Duke Nukem Forever sometime in 2012. As it turned out, the game not only saw the light of day but ended up being an addictive online experience. As a console gamer enjoying this with a gamepad, I don't care much much for the sniper, soldier, demoman, or anything except medic and occasionally the engineer. There's something brutally satisfying about charging into battle behind a heavy weapons guy, dodging the occasional bullet (people still haven't learned) and injecting him with a team-killing jolt of invincibility. Hours of enjoyment and not a single bullet shot. Pure. Enjoyment.

  • Dojo update: Saki Amamiya to dole out punishment for your sins

No doubt about it: the Assist Trophies announced thus far for Brawl have pretty much rocked. Andross, Little Mac, a Nintendog, Gray Fox, Excitebikers, Samurai Goroh, a Hammer Brother, Mr. Resetti; the sheer randomness of this list delights us, and when it comes to unleashing some Assist Trophy hurt on our opponents, we probably won't know where to start.Today's dojo update has only exacerbated our dilemma. See, it's not so much that we really like Treasure's exquisite N64 game Sin and Punishment (available on the Virtual Console now, as if we needed to remind you). It's more that we unconditionally love it, want to marry it, have its children, and settle down in the 'burbs with it for a life of rosy contentment.Hence, the news that the star of that game, Saki Amamiya, will be an Assist Trophy in Brawl has put us in a right old tizzy. He sounds pretty useful, as well, with his Cannon Sword doubling up as both a sword and a gun, allowing him to slice and shoot his way through whoever's silly enough to get in his way.%Gallery-10206%%Gallery-6869%

  • Sin & Punishment's Saki cameos in Smash Bros. Brawl

Nintendo did a very good thing by including the Japan-only N64 3D shooter Sin & Punishment: Successor to the Earth on the Wii's Virtual Console. Now, they seem to be celebrating the global introduction of the series by including the game's protagonist, Saki Amamiya, as an assist trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.Saki brings his "Cannon Sword" to the fray, which is a--well, you can probably guess what it is. With super-slick characters like Saki and Gray Fox appearing as assist trophies, we're a little disappointed that Nintendo hasn't gone the extra mile to make them fully playable in the game. In fact, there hasn't been a new character introduced on the Brawl blog in quite some time, so maybe we'll get some interesting news in the weeks to come.

If you shelled out the cash to buy Sin and Punishment on your Virtual Console, then you already know how awesome it is. If not, we've deployed some hypnotoads to find you and make you buy the game, so be prepared. Now that we've sufficiently shoved the game down your throat communicated the brilliance of this game to you, excuse us while we squeal for a few seconds at the mere possibility of a sequel on the Wii. After all, we're only human (and part robot). The source of our glee, you wonder? When asked about a possible sequel to Sin and Punishment, Treasure president Masato Maegawa told Nintendo Power, "When we were originally working on Sin and Punishment [for Virtual Console], there was some discussion utilizing Wii-like controls, and I think now that we're working more with the Wii, it is something we'd very much like to try."We have just one message for you, Treasure: NOBODY LIKES A TEASE!

Today is an exciting day for the Virtual Console, as us living in the states are gifted with a pair of titles that we never expected to get. Sure, the price may be a bit high for these titles when compared to other games released for those systems, but it's not that much to ask for considering they're new to us. Oh, we can't wait until after 9am PST to give these titles a download: Sin and Punishment (Nintendo 64, 1-2 players, 1,200 Wii Points) Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (NES, 1 player, 600 Wii Points) As always, be sure to stop back later for our video wrap-up of this week's releases.

Fatal Fury was released on the Japanese Virtual Console yesterday-- the release wasn't shown at the time we were writing the VC Tuesday update, so we missed it. We thought we'd give it a mention because it's the first Neo Geo game on the Virtual Console! In addition to stuff that already came out that we didn't get to write about, Japan gets some bonus VC material tomorrow of the highest caliber. Super Metroid and Sin and Punishment are being released tomorrow, both of which should make up nicely for Super Thunder Blade.Say, now that PAL regions have their Hanabi Festival and Japan has surprise Thursday games, you know what would be great? Some VC bonus stuff in America.[Thanks for pointing out Fatal Fury, Almadi!]
