Jade chimed in on the Xbox Canada thread about X07 still hitting America Jr. this year. She confirmed that it was taking place in Toronto, Ontario on August 28th, and is giving community members an opportunity to attend. As of 5:00 PM ET (aka now), you can email jade@microsoft.com with your name, address, email address and gamertag. There are only a limited number of spots so you may want to act fast. If any readers here at X3F get, or already have invites be sure to let us know in the comments section.

Over on the Xbox Canada forums, there is a thread confirming that there will be an X07 Canada taking place this year, as opposed to its European brethren . Last year, X06 came to Canada for the first time, and was held in Toronto, Ontario, and was significantly smaller than the one in Barcelona, but it was nice to have some semblance of the event represented in North America. Unfortunately, there isn't any word of where or when it is taking place in the post, but it is said to be "invite only" this time around.Update: Xbox Canada's Jade sent us a message saying the Canada has been having X0 events since 2002, and that X06 was the first time it was opened to the public, and was merely a media event up to that point.

Quick on the heels of Aaron Greenberg's announcement that X07 is dead and will not be happening this year, Microsoft has confirmed with gamesindustry.biz that they have another event scheduled to take its place in the UK. The new Xbox event (name still pending) will be focused towards a UK audience instead of the broad European audience X07 catered to and should take place before Christmas as no specific dates have been announced. It's true, we were a bit depressed yesterday hearing that our X07 went the way of the mullet, but with today's announcement of a replacement event we have perked up a little. Any Xbox 360 event that brings us new announcements, trailers or gameplay makes us happy and we're glad to see Microsoft make an effort to bring such excitement to the UK. Long live end of the year gaming events in Europe no matter where they take place!

  • X07 isn't happening, UK will get own non-Euro event

We had X06 last year, so one would naturally think the European Microsoft event, which has existed since 2001 (let's not talk about 2004, k?), would give us the next digit and we'd be up to X07 -- alas, it is not to be. Aaron Greenberg says there will not be an X07 this year and that they've got something else in store. There's still no word on what this means for the Euro Xbox faithful, but GI.biz received a statement from an Xbox representative confirming that there is no X07. The rep said they're "looking at doing something here in the UK. It will be from a UK point of view, not from a European point of view." And all the Americans in the room cover their mouths like little school girls and try not to laugh. What does that mean, a "UK point of view"? This UK-fashioned event will apparently happen before Father Christmas shows up. So, what about the rest of Europe, should they expect an impressive showing at Leipzig or is MS making their stand in the UK against the PS3 and Wii armies marching across Europe? A "UK point of view"? Really ... did they really say that?[Via X3F]

With the new E3 taking place later than E3s past, we were wondering what would become of X07, the next of Microsoft's European gaming summits. E3 came and went with nary an announcement, and now we know why: X07 has been canceled. Speaking on the Squad XP podcast, Xbox Group Product Manager, Aaron Greenberg, let it slip that X07 would not be coming this year. According to Greenberg, "There is not a real X07 this year but I think that we will figure out some way to talk about 2008 some time at a different event or a different type of programme." Euro gamers: ouch. Here's hoping we find out more about this "different event" sometime soon.[Via gamesindustry.biz]
