Remember that supposed a137 that we saw chilling on a countertop somewhere in the wilds not long ago? Samsung and AT&T are now fessing up to its existence by quietly posting product info pages on their respective sites without so much as a single press release from either Sammy or the carrier -- because that's the sort of thing that happens when a phone's just this flat-out uninteresting, we suppose. How uninteresting are we talking about here? For starters, the a137 tops out with GPRS data -- not EDGE -- making for a circa-2004 blast from the past that should naturally help users keep their browsing habits to a bare minimum. On the plus side, it packs AGPS and runs just $39.99 as a GoPhone. Now, what do you want to bet we see it in a few more colors before its run is up?[Via Phone Scoop]Read - AT&TRead - Samsung

  • AT&T's new Samsungs, USBConnect Mercury in the wild

So a few shiny new pieces of hardware are starting to show up in AT&T stores; nothing to get terribly excited about, really, but the recently-released USBConnect Mercury is one of the purdiest data sticks we've seen in a while, and it's certainly a hell of a lot better looking than the USBConnect 881 of old. We also have an a237 here from Samsung (or a dummy of it, anyway) -- not bad for a dirt-cheap flip, we suppose -- and another unidentified Sammy with a hidden front display. Anyone want to hit us up with some knowledge on what that is?[Thanks, Kal]Update: We're hearing that the unidentified Samsung is the a137. Thanks, Jack and raapkid!%Gallery-30853%

Odds are we're never going to see this phone again, which is just fine with us; it's got nothing but GPRS and a VGA cam, after all, and we'd typically save this kind of hardware for FCC Fridays. What struck us as we did our standard vetting of the phone's FCC documents, though, was the silkscreened label on back. We can't remember the last time a phone so proudly displayed that it's packing "0.3 Mega Pixels" underhood, and there's a reason for that. Thanks, but no thanks, ZTE A137 Plus.
