Last week, Canadians were privy to a fantastic deal, netting them Batman's latest adventure for $40. This week, American gamers are being treated to a buy-one-get-one-half-off promotion at Best Buy on a laundry list of Xbox 360 software. The deal is pretty simple: Purchase one qualifying Xbox 360 title and get a second game (of equal or lesser value) for 50% off. To sweeten the deal Best Buy is even throwing in free shipping for your purchase.Strangely, the fine print mentions gamers can only select items that are currently in stock, but list Modern Warfare 2 as one of the qualifying titles. Keep in mind that this offer can end at any time, so if you're looking to stock up for the winter season now is as good a time as any.[Thanks, vidGuy!]

It may be a while until you get your grubby paws on Duke Nukem's latest adventure (if ever), but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to enjoy some irrelevant '90s humor from the silver-tongued action star.Until the end of the day on June 1, Good Old Games is selling both Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition and Duke Nukem Manhattan Project for 25 percent off -- bundled for $8.98. If you've already purchased one of the discounted titles prior to this promotion, GOG is offering a discount on the second title ($1.50 off for $4.49). Time to kick ass, chew bubble gum and remember Duke had a pretty good history.

Circuit City's U.S. store liquidation of hit and miss deals is still trucking along and after starting off with a 10% off "clearance", we finally have reached the moderate deal level. Word on savings avenue is that all gaming accessories including Microsoft points cards and Live subscriptions are now 30% off retail prices. That is, if you can still find them in stock. Sadly, most video games are still only 10% off. Weak.Of course, your mileage may vary seeing that each Circuit City store is its own mini-liquidating ecosystem. [Thanks, Tyler R]

    01.16.2009

If you've been wanting to snag the Xbox 360 wireless adapter but unwilling to stomach the incredibly steep $99 price tag, we have good news. According to GamerDeals.net, Buy.com will be hosting a sale on the peripheral starting this Sunday, January 18 at midnight (PST) and ending January 25. The WiFi adapter price will be slashed by 30%, lowering the price to a (slightly) more palatable $69.99. Sure, it's still a far cry from what typical adapters cost, but it's certainly better. If that doesn't float your boat, Buy.com will also be offering the red wireless controller bundle -- which includes a Play & Charge Kit -- for $42.99, a significant savings over the $64.99 suggested price. GamerDeals suspects the products will likely sell out quickly, and we're inclined to agree, so you might want to start warming up your clicking finger now.

If you've yet to explore the not quite barren wastelands of Fallout 3, today might just be the day to get started. Amazon is currently offering the collector's edition of Fallout 3 for $49.98, just over $30 less than the retail price of $79.99. Lest you've forgotten, the collector's edition comes with a Vault Boy bobblehead, a 100 page art book, a making-of DVD and a sweet metal lunchbox (It also includes the game, which is important). If that sounds just a bit too paltry for your expensive taste, Amazon is also offering its exclusive Survival Edition for $109.98, a $20.01 savings over the regular price. The Survival Edition includes all the extras of the collector's edition, with the addition of a replica Pip-Boy digital clock.Like we said, if you've been waiting to get Fallout 3, nabbing the collector's edition for less than the standard edition is a pretty sweet deal.[Thanks, Alex]Source - Amazon.com -- Fallout 3 Collector's EditionSource - Amazon.com -- Fallout 3 Survival Edition

  • Rumor: Circuit City selling 360 120GB HDD for $80

According to posters at the Slick Deals forum, Circuit City is currently selling the 120GB hard drive for the Xbox 360 at the staggeringly reduced price of $80. These puppies normally sell for twice that price, so it's one heck of a deal. There is a small catch though: you'll have to hoof it over to your local Circuit City if you want to get your hands on one, the deal is nowhere to be found online. In fact, we can't even find the 120GB drive listed at the Circuit City website at all. The deal isn't being advertised, but several members of the Slick Deals forums have attested to its authenticity. If anyone out there has managed to take advantage of the deal, let us know in the comments. You might want to act quickly. We don't know how long it will last.[Via Punch Jump. Thanks Jonah.]

    12.16.2008

If you're in the market for a new Xbox 360 Pro and a new HDTV -- and if you don't have to have 1080p compatibility -- Best Buy is currently running a pretty sweet promotion. Right now the store is offering both a 720p Samsung 42" plasma HDTV and an Xbox 360 for $899.98. If you'd prefer an LCD screen, is offering the same deal for an Xbox 360 and a Samsung 720p 37" LCD HDTV, which also runs $899. The plasma and LCD TVs typically run for $1,300 and $1,200, respectively, so the offer translates to a free Xbox 360 Pro either way (with an extra $100 off the plasma TV to boot). The Xbox 360 is part of the new holiday bundle, so you'll score free copies of LEGO Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda too.Granted, you'll have to give up your 1080p dreams, but it's still a mighty impressive deal.[Via Punch Jump]

  • Toys R Us deals: Buy 2-get-1 games in Canada, $20 off in US [update]

    12.08.2008

Ahoy Canadian gamers, a tipster has informed X3F that Canadian Toys R Us stores currently have a pretty sweet deal on video games. We're not sure how long it will last, but for the moment Toys R Us is offering one free game with the purchase of two on any platform. There are a few catches though (naturally). First, the second game must be of equal or lesser value, so don't go thinking you can grab a budget title and score a free copy of Fallout 3. Second, the deal is valid only for games under $89.99, so no free Guitar Hero or Rock Band for you.Don't worry US gamers, Toys R Us has a deal for you, although it's not quite so sweet. Right now, when you buy one game (PS2, 360, PS3, or Wii), you can get $20 off a second game. The game does have to be at least $29.99, so again, budget titles are more or less excluded from the deal. Toys R Us is also offering free shipping for orders of $49 or more. Now go, go save money![Thanks, CapNJunkie]Source -- 2-for-1 games, Toys R Us CanadaSource -- Buy one, get one $20 off Toys R Us USA[Update: Correction: The Canadian deal is to buy two games to get a third game free, not buy one and get one free as we originally reported.]

  • Data shows Wii games discounted fastest

    11.25.2008

Not all that waggles on Wii is gold. It turns out there's a reason we've been seeing so many Wii games in bargain bins: they're twice as likely to under-perform at retail than PS3 or 360 titles.Blend Games has obtained a new report from Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR) which claims that 15.1 percent of Wii titles are reduced in wholesale price by their publishers (termed "price protection") after only a short time on sale, versus 7.5% on 360 and 9.09% on PS3. EEDAR analyst, Jesse Divnich, suggests that the larger volume of mainstream and casual titles hitting simultaneously on Wii is part of the problem. "Most publishers typically avoid releasing their big triple-A core targeted titles against other triple-A titles, whereas it is common to see many mainstream/casual titles, targeting similar markets, released in the same week," Divnich explained. So, release lots of crappy games and more crappy games will end up yellow-tagged. Got it. But do publishers? Hopefully they will, sooner rather than later.[Via CasualGaming.biz]
