HP's Compaq 8200 Elite all-in-one desktop coming to a cubicle near you
If you were in need of HP news that has nothing to do with the sold-out, overnight sensation that's become the TouchPad, then read on. The company's just announced a new all-in-one desktop solution for the enterprise set -- the Compaq 8200 Elite. Starting at a wallet-pleasing $1000, the 1920 x 1080 23-inch full HD monitor comes outfitted with your choice of Intel's Pentium or vPro line of chips, up to 8GB DDR3 SDRAM, HDD storage that ranges from 250GB to 1TB, six USB 2.0 ports, an optional Blu-ray drive, and a six-in-one media card reader. As you might expect, the machine also comes pre-loaded with MS' ever-handy Office 2010 starter pack and Norton Internet Security. Lenovo targets businesses with LS2221 and LS2421p monitors, ThinkCentre Edge 71
It's surprising how many small stores and offices take good care of their shopfront and interior decor, then spoil it by putting a bunch of dusty old PCs and monitors on show amid a jumble of cables. That's exactly the kind of business Lenovo hopes to entice with its latest range of kit. The 21.5-inch LS2221 and 23.6-inch LS2421p monitors cost $229 and $299 respectively, and come with LED-backlit panels, a claimed "10 million to one" dynamic contrast ratio, and power efficiency that exceeds Energy Star requirements. The larger model has generally better specs, with 300nits of brightness, HDMI out and an inbuilt four-port USB hub to reduce clutter. Meanwhile, the ThinkCentre Edge 71 desktop comes in both tower and SFF versions to suit different locations, and sacrifices "legacy ports" for a cleaner appearance. Acer ships Veriton X270 business desktops to suits with egos
With a name like Veriton X270, it just has to be good, right? Um, not entirely. While the label may give off the impression that Acer's latest desktop is destined for gamers, the actual component list proves otherwise. Indeed, this rig was tailor made for suits in corner offices, though it does offer an impressive list of Excel-crunching hardware. We're talking a Core 2 Duo CPU, NVIDIA's GeForce 7100 graphics, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, a 500GB SATA HDD, a DVD writer, gigabit Ethernet, Windows Vista Business and support for 5.1-channel audio. Said machine is available for ordering today in North America with a starting tag of $399.
Dell Vostro 410 desktop isn't ashamed of its greenness
Dell's been squarely situated on the green bandwagon for years now, and just as it did with the OptiPlex 755, Round Rock is making quite a fuss about the all new Vostro 410 desktop. The mini-tower features Intel's Core 2 Quad processors, an optional 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT, room for four internal hard drives / six PCIe or PCI cards, gigabit Ethernet, up to 4GB of RAM, dual-layer DVD burner and a rather run-of-the-mill port assortment. Potentially best of all, however, isn't the 47-percent energy savings it's purported to deliver -- oh no, it's the complete absence of bloatware, as Dell looks to fit the machine "with only the software you want" for your business. Check it out now in North / South America and the UK starting at $599, while Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa will have access before the end of next week.
HP Compaq announces dc5850 and dx2450 Business Desktops
Remember those AMD Business Class desktops we told you about, oh, just hours ago? Looks like the first of the family are starting to roll out, beginning with the HP Compaq dc5850 and dx2450 Business Desktop PCs. Both rigs support "next-generation AMD Business Class processors" (that's the Athlon X2, Phenom X3 and Phenom X4) along with the usual complement of slots / ports, and while the former gets integrated ATI Radeon 3100 graphics, AMD's Cool'n'Quiet 2.0 technology, up to 8GB of RAM, an optional dual-drive RAID setup and a dual-layer DVD writer, the latter boasts NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE graphics, room for 4GB of RAM and up to 500GB of SATA HDD space. Best of all, both machines come in pretty easy on the wallet, with the dc5850 hitting in early May for $599 and the dx2450 available now for $369.
Acer Aspire L320 mini PC touts Viiv certification
Every time you think the Viiv hype is dying down, Acer brings it back up, as just a few months after kicking out the "world's first" Viiv-certified LCD TV, the firm is now unveiling its Aspire L320 mini PC with -- you guessed it -- a shiny Viiv sticker adorning its case. Hot on the heels of its xSeries displays, this machine sports a slim, silver / black case designed for living room placement, a variety of Intel Pentium processors, up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, up to 400GB of internal hard drive capacity, an Acer-branded digital / analog hybrid TV tuner, DVD writer, flash card reader, and a bevy of included ho hum software that you'll likely replace immediately upon bootup. Additionally, it sports 7.1-channel audio, Intel's GMA 3000 graphics set, VGA / DVI outputs, an option to add Windows Vista, FireWire, audio in / out, and a pair of USB 2.0 ports to round things out. No word just yet on price or availability, but this ought to be a fairly inexpensive alternative for those eying a very basic (and fairly attractive) pre-fab HTPC.[Via RegHardware]
