Thanks to Amazon, you can now enjoy Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII or a few other Square Enix PSP games without being plunged into a financial crisis as a result. The Deal of the Day offers Crisis Core, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, or Star Ocean: First Departure for just $12.99 each, down from the regular $19.99 price. That's many, many hours of gameplay for just a little money. As the Deal of the Day, this offer will expire at the end of the day or when stock is depleted. You'll have another opportunity to buy War of the Lions cheaply in September, but this is your best shot at both getting it cheap and playing it with buttons.

Amazon has chosen Atlus's latest medical adventure, Trauma Team, as its Deal of the Day. If you've had difficulty fitting the multidisciplinary -- surgery slash forensics slash endoscopy slash orthopedics slash emergency medicine slash diagnostics (phew!) -- game into your already-strained budget, it should be about ... 25 percent easier today, as the game's marked down from $40 to $30. A review on a certain trusted website suggests that Trauma Team is certainly worth picking up. Did we say "suggests?" More like commands: "If you read reviews to help you with buying decisions, this is an easy one: Buy this game." %Gallery-64456%

    04.26.2010

Ready to add more genetic diversity to your Spore game collection? Amazon is offering the chance to get the latest Wii and DS variants in the franchise at a nice discount. The action-adventure Spore Hero for Wii is $17.99, while the DS fighting game Spore Hero Arena has been knocked down to the impulse-buy price of $10.99. Don't take too much time making the natural selection about whether to buy one or both: as Amazon's Deal of the Day, these offers will be gone tomorrow.

If you couldn't find room in your budget for No More Heroes 2 amid the first quarter's overloaded lineup, perhaps Amazon's latest deal will encourage you to spend a little of that tax refund on the temporarily discounted sequel. Earth's Biggest Bookstore (remember when Amazon called itself a bookstore?) has marked down Travis Touchdown's revenge story to $35. It's the Deal of the Day, so when supplies run out or the clock strikes midnight Pacific Time, there will be no more cheap No More Heroes 2. If you have yet to experience the delightfully bizarre original, the Xbox 360 and PS3 ports were released in Japan this week.

Whether you're drowning in peripherals or relatively new to the music simulation racket, Amazon's got two options for you to jump into The Beatles: Rock Band. As part of the retailer's Deal of the Day, the -- wait a minute. Have we written this post before? Either they've changed something in the Matrix, or we've totally written this post before. Ah-ha! We knew it -- Amazon is reprising its temporary fire sale on all things Beatles: Rock Band, knocking the price of the core game (on all platforms) down to $28.49. If you're dying to get your hands on the Premium Bundle's stylish instruments, you can grab the Xbox 360 version for $124.75 or the PS3 version for $134.75. Sorry, Wii owners -- the bundle for your console didn't get encheapened today. We know. Life is super unfair sometimes.

"Value over here!" If you've wanted to move on to Left 4 Dead 2's new foursome of survivors but were afraid we'd judge you because of our not-so-hot review, we have two important notes: one, we appreciate the sentiment, but you're probably worrying too much about what we think; and, two, you can pick up the game for just $34 on Xbox 360 -- or just $24 on PC -- today from Amazon, which even we haters can agree is a steal. Even if you're a total Left 4 Dead 1 devotee, aren't you the least bit curious how your beloved quartet of zombie slayers will be tied to the new kids?

  • Pick up Guitar Hero 5 at a Guitar Hero 3 price today

Looking to add 85 new songs to your Guitar Hero library? Want a game that's made for "Party Play?" Oh, sure. Admit it -- you just want to make the ghostly Cobain avatar do your musical bidding. Well, whatever the motivation, you can pick up Guitar Hero 5 (the game only) for a pretty reasonable $28.99 today, thanks to Amazon's Deal of the Day. While supplies last (or through the end of the day), the discount is applied to the Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, and PS2 versions of the game. Guitar Hero 5 is worth investing in especially if you're loaded down with PS2 instruments and don't want to buy new ones for another console -- there won't be any more Guitar Heroes for PS2, after all. So, if you want more music, this is pretty much your last chance, all you PS2 holdouts! [Thanks, Jared]

If you've ever wanted to transport into the massively-multiplayer Starfleet of Star Trek Online, now is your chance to make it so. Amazon's Deal of the Day features the game for $28 -- a better price than even a Ferengi could negotiate. (Mostly because Ferengi don't really exist.) Plus, the 44-percent discount off the list price should help take the sting out of the monthly fee. Amazon has also temporarily discounted the Collector's Edition, from $80 to $48. Don't you want the little communicator badge? Of course you do. As with all Amazon Deals of the Day, this one's over at midnight PT or when the shop runs out of stock. %Gallery-28626%

  • Amazon's galactic deal of the day: Mass Effect 2

    03.08.2010

BioWare's space opera epic, Mass Effect 2, is Amazon's "Deal of the Day." The Xbox 360 version is currently $40, which is $10 cheaper than you'd pick it up at your local Quarian pawn shop. A PC copy is 40 percent off, with a $30 price tag. At that price, one could pick up Mass Effect 1 and 2 for the regular retail price of the sequel. For those who like their sci-fi soapy and their shooters refined, this is a deal worth going through the Omega 4 Relay for -- see, if you play the game, you'll know what that means. [Thanks, Russ P!]

Did you miss out on Sucker Punch's shockingly awesome superhero simulator, inFamous? Today's the perfect day to rectify your oversight -- Amazon's offering the title for just $26.99 until the end of the day. If you're wondering whether or not it's worth this price, we'd remind you that this is a game where you can electrocute large groups of innocent civilians with a single, errant bolt, provided they're standing in a large enough puddle. Of course it's worth it.

If you've yet to play one of those rhythm games that exclusively features the work of a single band, but you're dying to temper your expectations for Green Day: Rock Band, you should probably consider picking up the similarly-titled Harmonix opus that focuses on the career of the Beatles. In fact, you should do it right now -- Amazon's offering Beatles: Rock Band for $28.49 on all three major platforms as its Deal of the Day. As an added bonus, the retailer is also selling the Premium Edition bundle, which includes all those sexy instruments, for just $139 (down from MSRP $200). We recognize that The Beatles are no Green Day, but you should be able to emulate playing the upcoming Billie Jo Armstrong simulator by muting your television while playing Beatles, and just crankin' up the Dookie.

Today, you can get a copy of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers for a price much more befitting the bizarre, experimental game it is. Just one month (and one day) after its North American release, Amazon marked the telekinetic action game down to $32.98. Now you can experience the lovely graphics, oddly compelling tossing-stuff-based gameplay and irritating bosses for yourself! If you miss out on this deal, online retailer Tronix sells Crystal Bearers for $40 all the time. Either way, you don't have to pay full price for the thrill of tossing garbage bags at slime monsters.

Looking to add some more psychotic mercenaries to your life in increments of two, but light on cash in this ridiculously overstuffed Q1? Look to Amazon's Video Game Deal of the Day to fulfill your Army of Two: The 40th Day-related needs. For today only (or until the retailer runs out), both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the co-op shooter are marked down to $39.99. If that's still a bit much to pay (and if you're really desperate for some masked mayhem in a game), we'd like to suggest employing the same "buddy system" that Salem and Rios use. Buy it with a friend, play it together, and strengthen your relationship! You know, while blowing stuff up.

Watch your head, folks, because prices are falling. Today's Xbox Live holiday deal of the day is targeted directly at DLC for Bethesda's critical and commercial darling, Fallout 3. If you're looking to add more intense VATS-related action to the RPG, each add-on pack is available for 400 ($5) a piece -- a 50% savings of your Microsoft-branded space bucks. New to the Fallout 3 universe? There are five DLC add-on packs for the (already) lengthy RPG. Arguably the most important -- and one you should tackle first -- is Broken Steel, which increases the game's overall level cap to 30 and allows players to continue playing beyond the conclusion. Also, a Game of the Year edition is available in stores, which includes all of Fallout 3's downloadable content -- making it cheaper if you don't already own the game to begin with. We'll make this one quick: Today's Xbox Live deal has cut the cost of Live Arcade's recommended skip-reverse-plus-4 sim, Uno Rush. Microsoft has taken 50% off the top, leaving a mere 400 MS Points behind. That's $5! Also, did you see what we did there at the beginning? "We'll make this one quick." Uno Rush. Pretty amazing stuff. Maybe you should give the $5 to us for our fabulous wordplay. Add Uno Rush to your Xbox 360 download queue

We're beyond last-minute gift recommendations at this point, so we'll just assume selfish motivations behind any desire to purchase Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles today. The good news is that if you'd like to indulge that selfish desire, it'll only run you $29.77 today. Amazon knocked about $20 off the price of the Wii rail shooter, which features settings and characters from Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica, as its Deal of the Day. The game just came out in November! We're tempted to call it a Christmas miracle -- though maybe we'll save that declaration for when something is discounted to $20. %Gallery-47570%

    12.21.2009

Today's Amazon Deal of the Day offers would-be World Warriors, Kings of Fighters and, uh, people who play BlazBlue a reduced-price ticket to hardcore fighting game certification. The Hori Real Arcade Pro EX SE, a high-end arcade stick for Xbox 360, is discounted from its original $139.99 price to $89.99. Still expensive for a controller, true, but less expensive. Though it's not a one-day deal, Amazon is also currently selling the PS3 equivalent, the Real Arcade 23 Pro EX-SA , for the same price. Either stick would be a great gift option -- and the recipient would have a really hard time figuring out what that large, heavy box was all wrapped up.

    11.18.2009

XSEED's Half-Minute Hero is all about compressing game genres, including RPG, RTS, and shmups, down into 30-second increments. So it's only appropriate that a price drop on the game is also under a strict time limit, as it is with this Amazon Deal of the Day. For today only (or until Amazon runs out), the game is marked down to $18.98. Sure, it would be even more appropriate if the sale only lasted half a minute, but then we wouldn't have time to write this post about it and tell you. Our post would look more like this: "hey guys haflmintue hero on sale cheap amazonlike 19 bucks" %Gallery-68352%
