  • Get a cheap Personal Trainer: Walking without walking too far

If you hope to save all of your footsteps for entry into Personal Trainer: Walking -- really make them count by having them tabulated by a video game -- this Amazon deal is perfect for you. The game, with two Activity Meters, is Amazon's Deal of the Day for $29.98. You may have to do some uncounted walking to pick it up (trips to the mailbox or the front door, a small amount of day-to-day movement until it arrives), but at least you don't have to walk around a store to pick it up, dooming yourself to several steps that don't contribute to a running total on your DS.

Today's Amazon Deal of the Day takes a decent chunk off of the price of an 80GB PlayStation 3 console. If you've been hoping to pick up the console -- and you're not interested in playing MLB 09 The Show or watching Quantum of Solace -- you can get one from the online retailer for $349.99. Add one of those deeply discounted Rock Band or Guitar Hero games from GameStop and you've got -- well, that would still be a really expensive purchase, but not as expensive as it could have been. When Amazon offers a deal on a popular item like this, its stock doesn't last long, so forgive us if we channel Billy Mays to tell you that supplies are limited -- act now!

  • Amazon tactically cuts one third off Halo Wars price for today only

Amazon's daily deal features Ensemble Studios' Halo Wars, offering the game at the discounted price of $39.99 for the standard edition. It's a game that many on the Joystiq staff find to be "the tops," though others on the staff have found it to be "mildly satisfactory." It's caused a rift, one you need not bother involving yourself in because, hey, cheap game! And, should you decide to pick this up, you could always apply those saved duckets toward some of the new DLC. Just saying ...

  • Amazon has full Guitar Hero World Tour kit for $120 today

Yeah, yeah, it's a little late in the day to be mentioning Amazon's Deal of the Day, but the online retailer is currently vending the full Guitar Hero World Tour bundle on current-gen consoles for $120 -- that's $70 off. The pack includes the game, mic, guitar and drums. If you were considering picking up the GHWT drums as a standalone package, this might actually be a solid alternative deal, as the drums alone retail for $100 (with free shipping and likely tax free). If you have any questions about the game's peripherals working with your other rhythm titles, be sure to check out our Instrument Compatibility Matrix. [Via 1UP]%Gallery-23477%

  • Animal Crossing City Folk for thrifty folk

It's not too often that a major first-party Nintendo release gets a price drop. That makes today's Amazon deal of the day, Animal Crossing: City Folk, somewhat of a novelty. If you thought $50 was too high for what seemed like a minimal content upgrade over Wild World, how does $30 sound? We're guessing it's going to sound pretty good to a lot of people -- enough people that Amazon will run out of stock before the end of the day. As usual, the person who benefits most from this deal is Tom Nook. Sometime within the 5-8 day Free Super Saver Shipping period, Tom Nook is going to find himself with a veritable army of new indentured residents. %Gallery-27704%

  • Amazon assembles $20 Banjo: Nuts & Bolts deal

    03.04.2009

Today's Amazon.com video game Deal of the Day is none other than Rare's Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, which has been reduced to $19.98. While some may see the reduction in price as a sign that Amazon.com wants to unload its unwanted Nuts and Bolts inventory, we're optimists in this situation. We predict the game has been such a success that most every 360 owner already has the title, so (to secure a few more game purchases) Rare partnered with Amazon to sell Banjo's latest adventure at a 50% discount. Hey, we never said we were logical optimists. [Via Aeropause]

  • Amazon makes most of Master of Illusion's price disappear

Amazon.com has pulled a Deal of the Day out of its hat, in the form of Nintendo's Master of Illusion. The magic trick sim, er, magic training game -- or whatever you want to call this weird software -- has had its price halved today, and today only, to an impulse-level $9.98. That's very cheap for a first-party Nintendo game -- or very expensive for a deck of cards, if you choose to look at it that way!Much like Clubhouse Games and WarioWare: Touched, Nintendo of Japan plans to break out individual tricks from Master of Illusion for sale as DSi downloads. We figure that if you're into e-magic, you might as well grab the whole thing now instead of waiting for the DSiWare version that may not even appear in North America!%Gallery-10368%

  • Amazon is Samba de Amigo's friend today

    02.05.2009

Amazon's Deal of the Day is one of those games we've wanted to try, but felt the investment was too risky: Samba de Amigo. Maybe you experienced similar trepidation: at $30 or even $20, it would be a terrible disappointment if the Wiimote/Nunchuk controls failed to accurately imitate the Dreamcast's maraca controllers. At $10, however, the risk is minimal and the potential reward -- a candy-colored world of super-happy cartoon monkeys and exciting music -- seems worth it. Besides, it is a music game that has Ulala in it, and is therefore by definition better than 90% of the world's music games.%Gallery-20601%

We really, really liked Drawn to Life, so we view Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition with both curiosity and trepidation. On the one hand, hey, more Drawn to Life! On the other hand, it's more Drawn to Life without the guiding hand of developer 5th Cell, and with a license we aren't young enough or high enough to appreciate. If we were going to take the plunge and just buy the thing to satisfy our curiosity, today would be a pretty good day for that. Amazon has marked Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition down to $17.98 for today only. And we wouldn't have to be seen in a GameStop buying a SpongeBob game. Or in a GameStop at all.
