So even though my Diablo III days are mostly over, it did have a nice surprise for me when I clicked through to preorder Mists of Pandaria. Turns out, you can use your Battle.net Balance to pay (or partially pay) for the expansion. Theoretically, with a bit of grinding, you could completely fund your purchase through nothing but DIII play. As you can see from the screenshot, I've got a ways to go with that, personally.
