The next few years promise to be exciting ones for fans of Middle-earth. Ever since The Return of the King debuted in theaters in 2003, audiences have clamored for more of Tolkien on the big screen -- specifically, The Hobbit. After nearly a decade of back-and-forth negotiating and legal entanglements, it appears that this The Hobbit movies are finally going to happen, with Sir Peter Jackson once again in the director's chair and Martin Freeman taking on the lead role as Bilbo. That's smashing news for movie buffs, but what does this have to do with Lord of the Rings Online -- y'know, that MMO we sometimes talk about in this column? It could be "very little," with Turbine proceeding on its merry way and perhaps enjoying the free boost to playership as movie buffs hunt around for a game to extend the experience. However, if the company were smart, it would be laying out the groundwork right now to synergize the heck out of the movie with a similar in-game experience. For a while now, I've been chewing on the notion that Turbine could incorporate the events, locations and characters of The Hobbit into LotRO -- in fact, several of the key pieces are already in place. Could our journey in LotRO eventually take us back to the era of Bilbo's grand adventure? How would such a thing even work? Hit the jump and I will smack your brain so hard with ideas that you'll forget all of your piano lessons. It's OK -- you didn't really need them.

Sometimes, it's just one of those days. Perhaps you woke up to find you were out of coffee, you get out the door late, people seem to take special delight in being pains all day, and then it's time to face rush hour traffic. Fun, fun, fun. But for every day like that, there are moments like these, where you can escape into your favorite fantasy world and spend your evening cleaving skulls in twain, venting frustration from your day. Today's Warhammer Online One Shots from Dwalin may not be inspired by a rough day, but it certainly captures the gleeful moment of putting the smack down on someone! Dwalin writes in: My favourite picture that I've captured since I started playing Warhammer Online. My Ironbreaker, Dwalin, is about to give a chaos champion a splitting headache. [It was] taken during the Siege of Bohsenfels public quest, on the Burlok server. That champion is going to feel that in the morning. If you've read this far, it means you like One Shots, so why not do us a huge favor and send in some screenshots from your MMO gaming? We need lots more screenshot love, and you're the best ones to help us out. Just grab screenshots from your favorite game (or hey, least favorite, if you're playing it) and send it to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name and a quick description. We'll showcase the screenshot and give you the credit for sending it along. Then you can tell everyone that we put your screenshot out for all to see!%Gallery-9798%

Dwalin hardly needs an introduction, but it's good to see that the latest update to the Lord of the Rings Online lorebook is a page devoted to this famous Dwarf. He is currently the Master of Thorin's Hall, and since he is involved in many story lines, adventurers of all levels will likely have made the trip up the long stairs to his throne. He was first sent to Thorin's Hall by King Dáin Ironfoot to find out why the Master at the time had stopped paying tribute to Erebor, and ended up discovering an evil Dourhand scheme. He stayed on as the new Master, and continues to watch over the area. Of course, Dwalin will be remembered most as one of Thorin Oakenshield's party, along with his brother Balin and a few other notable companions. Take a look at the new lorebook entry to find out more about Dwalin, and some of the quests that he plays a part in.

The Lord of the Rings Online points of interest series takes us on a trip to the Blue Mountains this time around, and to Blue Stone Garrison. Dwalin and his company established Blue Stone Garrison to help protect against Ered Luin goblin and Dourhand Dwarf attacks. The Dourhands in particular are always causing trouble in the area, and that's where you come in.A visit to Blue Stone Garrison will show you that the Blue Mountain Dwarves stationed there need assistance, and aren't afraid to ask any travelers that pass through. Helping them out will result in positive gains with the Blue Mountain Dwarf faction, so there's some extra incentive to lend a hand. Take a look at some more screenshots and information on the mountain stronghold at the lorebook entry.
