When you're making the obligatory "things I'm thankful for" speech around the table this Thanksgiving, you may silently include Sony among the honorees. From tomorrow through November 28, the publisher is holding a Fall Sale on PSN that drops some recent releases into temptingly affordable territory. Limbo will be $10.49 (just $7.34 for PS Plus members) during the sale; the lovely Outland is down to $6.99 ($4.89 for Plus); and Might & Magic Clash of Heroes HD drops to just $10.49 ($7.34 for Plus). Find the full list after the break, and don't actually thank Sony out loud when you're at the dinner table. Your relatives already think you're weird enough.

  • Galaga Legions DX review: Identity crisis

When it was originally released in 1981, Galaga set the bar for top-down shooters. Having improved on Galaxian's original design, the game revolutionized the genre, found multinational success, and has since been ported to over 21 different consoles, spawning four sequels along the way. Galaga is one of the forefathers of modern shooters, and is arguably one of the most important games of all time. Namco Bandai's Galaga Legions DX is the latest addition to the legacy, and despite small nostalgic touches scattered throughout the UI, the game eschews the majority of its heritage and forges a path between two strikingly different genres of contemporary shooters: "Twin-stick" and "bullet-hell." The result is, sadly, a bit of a mess.%Gallery-126055%

  • Galaga Legions DX explodes all of the aliens June 29th, at least on XBLA

Back in November of last year, Namco Bandai realized that what the Galaga series actually needs is neon lights and 400 trillion more aliens. Since then, the masochistic bullet-hell fanatics in Joystiq's Controller Destruction And Frustration Management Department have been anxiously awaiting Galaga Legends DX, the latest title in Namco Bandai's "Namco Generations" series of classic updates. If you've been sustaining yourself on what few morsels have been released so far, take solace in knowing that your wait will soon be at its end: Andriasang reports that DX will hit XBLA on June 29th for 800 Microsoft Points. Hop past the jump for the latest trailer, which details your ship's new "Diffuse Fire" technique. Said ability should provide a strategic advantage compared to the Focus Fire technique seen in the last trailer. Sadly, the PSN version is still officially listed as TBD, so xenophobic PlayStation users may have to wait a bit longer to explode their way through space.

  • Focus your attention on Galaga Legions DX

The last trailer to feature Galaga Legions DX was pretty unsatisfying -- a few seconds of DX at the end of a minute-and-a-half of previous Galagas. This new trailer cuts all the unnecessary stuff and just gets to the bullet-hell-with-bugs insanity that is DX. The trailer demonstrates "Focus Fire," which appears to be a system for cutting through hordes of enemies to get to the core -- though there's so much going on, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what "Focus Fire" could be referring to. The trailer also shows a lot of shooting in different directions from your ship. It kind of looks like DX is a twin-stick shooter! We'd say we're uncomfortable with the change, but its Namco Generations contemporary, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, has taught us to trust Namco on these things.

It's been a while since we first heard about Galaga Legions DX. Now, Namco has finally seen fit to reveal an itty-bitty, teeny-weeny snippet of gameplay footage. You'll find it at 1:35 in the video after the break. Are ... are those satellites shooting diagonally? Madness.

  • 'Namco Generations' series includes Galaga Legions DX, Aero Cross

This week's Pac-Man Championship Edition DX isn't just the second game in the Pac-Man CE series -- it's the first game in Namco Bandai's new "Namco Generations" series. Buying any game in the series, in Japan at least, will provide access to an online newsletter, visible from inside the game. In announcing the existence of its new PS3/Xbox 360 retro-remake series, Namco went ahead and announced its next two offerings: Aero Cross and a sequel to Galaga Legions. This is the first mention of Galaga Legions DX, and the first official confirmation of Aero Cross, which has shown up in ratings previously. Its status as a Namco Generations game strongly suggests it's a Pac-Man CE-style update of the arcade game Metro-Cross.
