The game, the myth, the curse -- Duke Nukem Forever has brought companies to their knees and dashed the hopes of a generation of gamers, but it's refused to go away for well over a decade; we just couldn't let it. Now a new company has stepped up to the challenge -- Gearbox Software (of Borderlands fame) has announced that it plans to finish the game, and that 2K Games will release it sometime next year for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Will it actually happen? We can't say we'd bet on it, but we want to believe. Update: If you still need a bit more convincing, there's an actual press release after the break.

  • Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot intro video is sultry, sadistic

If Mad Moxxi, the star of the upcoming expansion for Borderlands, has any endearing qualities (and we assume she does, seeing as how she's already netted three husbands), they're not present in the opening cinematic of the expansion, posted above. Who would want to settle down with a self-centered, death-dealing vixen like Ms. Moxxi? By the look of her, we're guessing clowns, mimes, and practitioners of other pasty-faced professions. What is present in the trailer is oodles of style, just as we've come to expect from Gearbox's projects. Check out the video above, then read our preview to find out exactly what Mad Moxxi's problem is. (We're guessing it has something to do with her being completely insane.)

If you enjoyed the Brothers in Arms series of games, you're probably familiar with Gearbox Software. The developers behind those titles has announced, along with 2K Games, their new FPS called Borderlands. The game sports a sci-fi theme, which is always nice. Well, not always, but generally it's better than playing through more WWII battlefields. The game isn't due out until holiday season 2008, so we've got nothing else on the title for now, but we're sure we'll hear more sooner rather than later. We know the game will feature player customization, vehicles, and real-time physics ... the usual stuff. What's unusual is the randomly-generated missions that'll pop up. This presents almost endless possibilities each time you play. With 4 player co-op in the works, we know it'll be exciting to play with friends. We'll keep you posted as details emerge!
