The firefight's only begun between DUST 514 and the competition, as CCP Games is showing off the many subsidiary features of its upcoming PlayStation 3 MMOFPS at E3 this week. The studio used the Expo as a platform to announce that DUST 514 will have its own dedicated Home Space on the console as well as a tie-in app with the portable PlayStation Vita. DUST 514's Home Space is intended to be a hangout for up-and-coming mercenaries, and CCP invites all interested players to check out the thematic virtual place over the summer. It will also be one of the best places to snag a beta key: CCP is kicking off DUST 514's Home Space by giving away 10,000 all access keys to the first people who visit. The studio's also developed a companion app for the PlayStation Vita called DUST 514: Neocom. While the app does not let players fight in the game, it does allow them to experiment with loadouts, customization, market exchanges, and social features. The premiere beta weekend event for DUST 514 will kick off on June 29th. CCP's released a new trailer for E3 that showcases the game in action, including several in-game shots of tanks, ships, and soldiers blowing stuff up -- check it out after the jump! The mysterious Xi event which appeared briefly in PlayStation Home was one of the neatest applications of Sony's online life-sim we've seen to date. Sadly, the Xi space is no longer available, and the only evidence of its existence are a few small trophies and old, empty walkthrough forum posts. However, a tweet from Xi creator nDreams' CEO Patrick O'Luanaigh might be a sign of good things to come. In his own, tweeted words: "Off on holiday this week, but our next Home space should be out on Thursday.... should be fun ;)" What does that last symbol mean? We're not sure. Is it a harmless, naughty wink? Or is it a clue? Guess we'll find out in a couple days.[Via CVG]

PlayStation Home is getting another themed space, this time promoting the recently PSN exclusive Burn Zombie Burn. According to doublesix senior games designer Ollie Barder, the BZB Home space will a feature a maze populated with brain-munching zombies and will be placed within a graveyard, so players can frolic with the undead. Bigger than that, BZB is getting a dose of DLC with two new levels taking place in space (it's the final frontier, by the way). Release information or price for the DLC was not revealed. Check out a trailer of the new alien abduction-themed levels after the break.

  • Conceptualizing the Home space for Buzz!

What would the Home space for Buzz! look like? Well, that's the task Cumron Ashtiani was given to figure out. The designer took more than just the visual look of the popular PlayStation trivia game -- no, he added a great level of interactivity which adds to the game experience. Within the Buzz! Home space, players will be able to take part of trivia games en masse. A question appears on a virtual screen and four choices appear. Players must move their avatars over the correct answer space or experience certain death!Adding different kinds of gameplay to Home certainly looks intriguing. If only it would release to the public at large ... then we'd be able to try out these innoative ideas for ourselves.[Thanks, KUV1977!]
