Just as rumors indicated yesterday, Amazon has announced a new licensing deal with Viacom that will add TV shows from its networks -- MTV, Comedy Central, BET, VH1, Spike, Nickelodeon and the rest -- to the Prime Instant Video service. There's still no word on any potential spinning off of the all-you-can-eat video portion from the rest of Amazon's Prime membership program, but it does bring the count of movies and TV shows available to around 15,000, up from the 13,000 cited recently. The details are in the press release after the break, but it appears Amazon will have many of the same selections Netflix obtained in its earlier deals, from MTV favorites like RJ Berger and The Hills to kids shows like Yo Gabba Gabba and iCarly.

There was a notable update to the Netflix Watch Instantly streaming catalog today, and it consisted almost entirely of content from the various Viacom networks (MTV, BET, VH1, Spike, Logo, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon). According to a post on the official blog, you can now view new shows like Yo Gabba Gabba, The Buried Life and The City as well as additional episodes of shows like iCarly, True Jackson VP and Dora the Explorer. Unfortunately quite a bit of the content maxes out in SD resolution simply because it was made that way, but it was interesting to note that the second season of Jersey Shore made is among the growing segment of shows with optional English subtitles.

There's a possibility in the next few weeks you may be in a position where Nickelodeon is on a television in front of you and there's nothing you can do to change the situation. As such, you may find yourself watching the debut of "Best Player," a Nickelodeon TV movie starring Jennette McCurdy and Jerry Trainor -- better known as "Sam Puckett" and "Spencer Shay," stars of iCarly. Perhaps you've heard of it? We're here to warn you now. In the film, McCurdy and Trainor play "online video game junkies who inadvertently learn that the real world can be just as exciting and rewarding as the virtual one." More specifically, Trainor takes on the role of "Quincy" ("simply known as 'Q' by fellow gaming enthusiasts"), a "cyber multi-player athlete online" who must win a game tournament in order to buy his parents' house. The only problem? A worthy adversary named "Prodigy" (McCurdy) "who threatens to annihilate him." It's also worth pointing out that the competition going down in the film isn't on an existing game console, but rather a hybrid of a motion-sensing glove and Wii Remote ripoff (seen above, and larger below the break). As the film's announcement spells out, "Quincy's plan to beat out his nemesis gets complicated when his relationship with Chris [Prodigy] and her mother takes an unforeseen turn." What will become of the tournament? And of Q?! Tune in to Nickelodeon on March 12 at 8PM EST to see what becomes of this messy situation.

How to fully enjoy this post:1. Grab the nearest preteen girl. (If you're not in your home, please ask permission before grabbing random preteens.)2. Insert earplugs.3. Tell the aforementioned girl that Activision is making a video game for Wii and DS with Nickelodeon based on the network's iCarly, and that it will allow her to make her own episodes of the show through the magic of minigames. 4. Remove earphones.5. Repair squeal-shattered windows, champagne flutes.6. Look totally cool to said preteen for at least 15 minutes.

iCarly iGo to Japan doesn't air until November 8, but it's available early on Comcast video on demand, along with four episodes in standard and high definition, plus behind the scenes clips. Enough to keep your tween from demanding a switch to another provider that has the Nickelodeon HD channel available? Maybe not, but we expect this won't be the last cross promotion run while Comcast uses Project Infinity to narrow the HD gap.

We've never been big fans of giving your tween some Nickelodeon-ized gizmo when you can simply hand down your current gear and use it for an excuse to upgrade, but apparently not everyone sees it that way. Nickelodeon, Viacom and Imation have jointly announced the latest line of kid-friendly Npower gizmos, which includes a digital voice recorder, a digicam and a webcam based on the "breakout hit" iCarly. Additionally, the outfit is churning out SpongeBob SquarePants-themed speakers, boomboxes, MP3 players and digiframes, and there's even a few Dora the Explorer toys thrown in for good measure. All the (inflated) prices and shipping details are down there in the read link -- we won't bore the uninterested any longer by fleshing it out here.[Via Electronista]

$100,000,000 dollars buys you 5,000 online games and virtual worlds -- if you're Nickelodeon. The famous kids' cable channel has spent two years bringing these games onlines, and has plans for 1,600 more online games set in such properties as Spongebob Squarepants, iCarly, and Carrie the Caregiver. Current virtual words for Spongebob, NeoPets and a new property called, enigmatically, Monkey World, are being developed by the newly renamed Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group Virtual World Studios, previously known as NeoStudios. The new division is being helmed by current NeoPets senior VP and general manager, Kyra Reppen.$20,000 per online game. Not yet known is how many of those 6,600 games are re-skinned clones of Minesweeper and Tetris.
