For one of our very last moviewatches, I've been looking for videos that spoke of our long love of World of Warcraft. Videos that explained why we were still here and playing after all of this time... and I couldn't find one better than Irdeen's Boom De Yada. After all, we love the whole of the crazy virtual world in which we all live. We'll see you all in game. Interested in the wide world of machinima? • WoW Moviewatch Staff Pick: Welcome to the Deadmines

Welcome to a WoW Moviewatch Staff Picks special! Each of our staff members will get the chance to feature one of their favorite videos, and tell us all why they love it. Mr. Ziebart goes first, and he chose: Welcome to the Deadmines. This is what Alex had to say about the video. Welcome to the Deadmines was released before Cataclysm's remix of the dungeon. The first iteration of the Deadmines was near and dear to people like me, who had been playing the game since launch. Not only is Welcome to the Deadmines an excellent piece of machinima on its own, but it kicked me in the nostalgia, too. Something about this video makes me want to dive right into Van Cleef's stomping grounds. Created by legendary machinima stars like Adrian Drott, Jesse Cox, Irdeen, Matt Greenburg, and more, Welcome to the Deadmines packs one heck of a talented punch. Yes folks, Adam has taken over Moviewatch for the week -- or rather, Adam or whoever he um, "convinces" to write it for him. You see, Mike Gray is away on paternity leave for a bit, celebrating a bundle of joy that was born to him and his wife last week. So you're stuck with me for a bit! And for today, we'll feature one of my favorite pieces of WoW machinima, Boom de Yada WoW-style by Irdeen and pals. One of the main reasons I like this piece so much is that it's accessible to a wide audience. You don't need to get every reference in it to appreciate it, but if you do, all the better. That makes it approachable for everyone from the WoW newbie to veteran, old-school Naxx raider. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! • WoW Moviewatch: What Would Warchief Garrosh Do?

I'm not entirely sure what coincidence has inspired it, but I've seen a dozen requests this week for a re-feature of this video by Irdeen Productions. What Would Warchief Garrosh Do? was Irdeen Production's entry into the BlizzCon 2010 machinima contest. Obviously inspired by South Park's love of Brian Boitano, a handful of Horde kids sing an entertaining anthem about Garrosh Hellscream. Now that we've had about 9 months of Garrosh under our belts, I wonder how many of us still think Garrosh is a great Horde leader. Regardless of my feelings about Hellscream, I do love this video. It's fun, fast, and packed with lots of jokes. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Matt Greenberg and Irdeen created this amazing, brief video for the Blizzard Cataclysm commercial contest. As something terrible sweeps the world of Azeroth, the local newscasters do their best to bring you the best news. After all, This Just In! Matt and Irdeen are really showing off their technical chops in this machinima. Despite its brief length, the video is beautiful to watch and action-packed. It's really great stuff. Deathwing's appearance is, of course, perfect. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? You can't go for a walk down memory lane without stopping to enjoy Boomdeyada WoW. Originally created as an entry for a contest, Boomdeyada WoW has taken on a life of its own. This epic machinima by Irdeen Productions has achieved well over a million views on YouTube and continues to grow with every week. Boomdeyada WoW does more than just parody the Discovery Channel's video. It celebrates the world of Azeroth with its viewer, throwing both punchlines and gentle jabs at our own community. It's a video that loves its subject and the rest of the world. I think if I had my way, I'd open up BlizzCon with a view of the video. I've not seen many single videos that shares so much enjoyment in just a few minutes. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! World of WarCrafts spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music and fan fiction. Show us how you express yourself by emailing lisa (at) wow (dot) com with your not-for-profit, WoW-inspired creations. You're bound to have seen the ebullient Welcome to the Deadmines here already, in WoW Moviewatch, spicing up a WoW Rookie article or linked in an enthusiastic reader comment. What you haven't had yet is the chance to meet its talented 17-year-old creator, Swedish machinimist X-Cross, a.k.a. Adrian Drott, or Tìnkle of EU Argent Dawn-A. We spoke with the young winner of Blizzard's World of Warcraft Movie Contest: Rise to Power to learn more about his creative process, his collaborators and where we might see him pop up in the future. World of WarCrafts: Winner of Blizzard's Rise to Power contest -- and you've only just turned 17! How long have you been making machinima, Adrian? X-Cross: I started with machinima in the early summer of 2008, and back then I was 15 years old. The first machinima I did was made together with my cousin and a friend of mine. It was a horrible WoW parody of Pokémon that for some reason a lot of people found quite entertaining and funny. After that, we decided to continue making the episodes but stopped after the third, since I wanted to go over to a bit more "serious" machinima making after all the great feedback.

  • WoW Moviewatch: Salad Elf

Salads are good, especially with Hawaiian Pizzas. I prefer a caesar salad, but a strange number of people in my family are into the blue cheese junk. Yuck.Today's movie, Salad Elf by Irdeen, is about a Night Elf with a gentler side to himself. I enjoyed the voice over in it, it had a certain children's tale quality to it. Mother goose and all that. The actual machinima was done well enough. Irdeen mentions that this was a BlizzCon submission that didn't make it, and I suspect that the only reason it didn't get shown at BlizzCon was that the competition was quite good this year - the bar is getting set higher and higher for WoW machinima.Now... off to make a salad for lunch. Eat that Kael'thas. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? • WoW Moviewatch: Irdeen's The Power of the Horde

At this rate, it looks like Irdeen may turn into one of machinima's regulars. Today's Moviewatch features not only him, but also another regular in the WoW community: L70ETC. Irdeen has created a music video for one of their most popular songs, "The Power of the Horde." For obvious reasons, Irdeen used the in-game models for the Blizzard rock band. The video features the metal group stomping out their tunes at the gate to Outland, with several mileu shots for chorus and chords. Irdeen also helpfully includes subtitles for those who might have trouble making out the lyrics. (I like metal as much, if not more, than the next guy, but even I have to admit you could be stumbled trying to make out what L70ETC is singing.) At this point, I'd encourage Irdeen to keep developing original material. I think this video shows that he's mastered a lot of tactics and tools to creating machinima, and Go Turbo Go displayed his ability to do some music himself. I'm eager to see him take his skills to another level. If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

You may remember when Irdeen was first reported on WoW Moviewatch about five months ago, featured with his opening machinima The Little Gnome. As feel good and uplifting as that piece was, Irdeen's back for this holiday season with Go Turbo Go. I think it is just as endearing as the first. The story is about the same main character from "The Little Gnome." Notably, Irdeen created the soundtrack, in its entirety, for this piece. That's a pretty nice factiod, since I found the audio to be appropriate and satisfying. Irdeen relates on Myndflame that this was his first effort at creating music, so the results are even that more impressive. Also, the pet skunk seems to be showing up a lot this year, which is interesting from a meta-analysis standpoint. Kind of makes me wonder what next years machinima star is going to be -- so far, it's the skunk this year. Oxhorn may have just found his #1 fan. Irdeen, a 13-year old Swedish kid, came out of nowhere with his latest project, The Little Gnome. Clearly influenced by Oxhorn, you can definitely tell when you see the stairs, the credits, and the fact that the score is composed by Nathan Allen Pinard. However, the story itself isn't even in the same genre as WeGame's funnyman. The Little Gnome is one of those "feel good" machinimas that adds a little extra spring in your step after watching. It's about a gnome that sees a bird pass by and is inspired to take flight himself. When he faces some setbacks, will he give up?[Thanks, #machinima on Quakenet IRC!]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...
