ESRB lists potential upcoming PS1 downloads
Reader Matt G. sent in a tip, detailing a number of PS1 titles rated by the ESRB that have yet to be released on PSP/PS3. These downloadable classics should arrive on the PSN some time in the future -- but when? Wipeout XL (E) Jet Moto 3 (E) Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo (E) Buster Bros. Collection (E) Street Fighter Alpha (T) -- previously discovered, not released Rayman (E) Castlevania Chronicles (T) -- previously discovered, not released SCEA has been slow to make PS1 classics available on the PS Store. We're eagerly awaiting a version of Puzzle Fighter we can take on the go.
American PSN updates for January 24th
Sony decides not to ignore PSP owners this week as they've updated the PLAYSTATION Store with something brand new. And by new, we mean old. Yes, a PS1 "classic" is available for download.PS1 Classics: Jet Moto 2 ($5.99) Game Videos: Soul Calibur IV Trailer Lost Planet Promotional Movie Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway Trailer Dynasty Warriors 6 Trailer Borderlands Trailer If you recall correctly, you may remember that we weren't too enamored by Jet Moto's rerelease on PSP. Will the sequel fare better? Maybe. But probably not.
Rumor: JetMoto making a return on PS3?
Here's a thick slice of speculative pie, coming from 1UP's own rumor mill. With the surprisingly positive reactions Sony has received from reviving the classic PS One Warhawk, it's not too far off the beaten path to assume Sony would consider bringing back other classic franchises for a PS3 reimagining. The game in question for a revival is rumored to be JetMoto. Since the original is up on the PS Store for purchase, we think there may be slight credibility to this rumor. What do you guys think? Is it possible more games from Sony's past will reappear on PS3 as some kind of fan-service, or is Warhawk going to be it for the classics?[Thanks, Joe!]

Blast Factor multiplayer, Jet Moto (PS1) added to PS3 Store
Sony got around to releasing that Blast Factor multiplayer pack ($2.99) for PlayStation 3 today. The update adds support for 4 players (co-op and 'grudge' modes) and an option to increase the game's speed by 50%. Jet Moto ($5.99) joins the Blast Factor add-on in PlayStation Store as a lonely lowly PS1-to-PSP offering. The PS3-required PSP service has sure gotten off to a slow start; and Jet Moto (pictured) is hardly reason to believe that release pace and quality will improve. Having watched hacker efforts surge ahead of Sony (a month ago!), using Sony's own emulation technology -- releasing Eboots of most pertinent PS1 games, while offering tools for PSP owners to create their own -- one has to wonder, really wonder, what is Sony's strategy? More PS1 games announced for PSP
Gamasutra is reporting that Sony reps have confirmed the next PS1 titles that will be hitting the PlayStation Store. If racing fans didn't like the last offering, then this one should really excite them since the update will include both Wipeout and Jet Moto. Sony didn't give a firm release for the titles, but I'm betting by the end of next week or the start of the following week these games will be playable on your PSP. For those who are unsure of how to get these PS1 games on your PSP, right now the only method is to own a PS3 and buy them off the PlayStation Store. Sony has said eventually there will be another solution in place for PSP owners, but when people like myself are insane enough to buy a PS3 just for this functionality, they may take their time unlocking the feature.[Update 1: Changed the incorrect PSP to PS3]
