They're actually making a Kenka Bancho movie
Remember Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble? If you're not familiar with the game, it's the one where you can dress up in a banana suit and fight gang members by shooting lasers from your eyes. That one. Seriously. And Japan's getting a movie adaptation of it on March 6th this year. You can catch a predictably insane trailer after the break.

How tough are the badasses of Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble? So tough that they can look intimidating in banana costumes, as demonstrated in these new screenshots. Not convinced? These dudes are so hardcore that the game's release date was moved up to face off with Modern Warfare 2. You have to be pretty ice cold to stand against that as a niche PSP game. We respect that.Atlus sent an email detailing the game's inventory system, which is pretty simple: every item of clothing includes a certain number of pockets, up to a total of eight per complete outfit. Which means you have to be super tough to take on rival gangs in just your undies, because not only would that be really embarrassing to anyone but the most confident of fighters, you can't carry healing items.%Gallery-75587%
Original Badass Rumble joins sequel on PSP
PSP owners not content with one brawler about Japanese high school gangs are in luck. In addition to Kenka Bancho 3, coming to North America via Atlus as Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble, publisher Spike has just announced a PSP port of the original Kenka Bancho, to be released in Japan on October 29. While no North American announcement has been made about this back-catalog port, Siliconera speculates that a possible release date bump of Badass Rumble on Atlus's part may make room for a localization of the port. We certainly wouldn't be averse to the idea of additional Badass Rumble.
Atlus's new brawler gets a name: 'Badass Rumble'
This time last week, Atlus asked its fan base for help in choosing a US title for its upcoming localization of Kenka Banchou 3. An online survey was set up, several potential names were proposed, and today we know which one The Fans liked most: Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble (or, translated, "Badass Rumble: Badass Rumble").Now, before you snicker, consider a few of the other proposed titles. Badass (yes, simply "Badass"); Turf Wars; Bancho Royale; Fist of the Bancho and Rise of the Bancho. Doesn't sound so silly now, does it? (OK, it's still pretty silly.)Atlus says that "the title was voted in by a 3-to-1 margin, which means that fans strongly felt it was the best fit for the game, or, that they all giggled uncontrollably at the sight of the word 'badass'. Either way, everybody wins, except of course for the titles not chosen." Why not, then, simply "Badass?" (Or even "Baadasssss!," which would have allowed it to ride on the tremendous popularity of Mario Van Peebles' 2004 film.)
