Rumors have been swirling that a Veronica Mars reboot is on the way and series lead Kristen Bell just confirmed it. She tweeted today that a new series is headed to Hulu, as are all of the back episodes. "Thank you to all the marshmallows for staying excited and to @Hulu for giving Veronica a chance to wear her big girl pants," wrote Bell. The original series ran for three seasons, but developed a strong and still very present following even in that short time. A follow-up movie came together in 2014 with the help of some avid crowdfunding.

Veronica Mars is the TV series you just can't ignore, it seems. Entertainment Weekly, Deadline, Variety and others have claimed that Hulu is "close to a deal" with Warner Bros. for a new season of Veronica Mars. Many of the details are up in the air, but it would include lead Kristen Bell (it damn well better) and creator Rob Thomas. Deadline and Variety understood it would be an eight- to ten-episode limited production. The project has been in development for "months," EW said.

Apple has been moving pretty aggressively into the entertainment business lately. With a reported $1 billion budget for original programming, the tech company can afford to acquire high-value projects like the Kevin Durant childhood drama, a Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon-led dramatic project and Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories reboot. According to a report over at Variety, Apple has just ordered a new musical animated comedy, Central Park, from the creator of Bob's Burgers, Loren Bouchard.

  • Vimeo to exclusively carry new Kristen Bell movie the same day as theaters

The concept of a movie launching online alongside its theatrical debut isn't new; we've seen a few (usually independent) movies reach iTunes that way, for example. Streaming service arrivals are still rare, however, and Vimeo On Demand just boosted its street cred with plans to carry Some Girl(s) on June 28th, the same day that the movie gets a wider theatrical release. Vimeo will be the exclusive online home of the Adam Brody and Kristen Bell picture, and production house Leeden Media takes a populist bent in explaining why: as with Bell's return to Veronica Mars, it wants to cut out the usual in-between distributors. We're sure that Vimeo's tinier-than-usual 10 percent revenue cut and relatively uncrowded marketplace play a part, too. There's no guarantee that other notable movies will follow suit, but it's an important coup for an online service that's not even two months old.

  • Assassin's Creed secrets spotted! Mission failure...

Heh, stealthy games end when you're seen. That's when all hell breaks loose. Not unlike that, when a game with a "big twist" suddenly decides to leak the secret, it's game over for the hype. Did we seriously just use "game over" to describe something? Oh well. Now, this came about a few days ago and we missed it (damned finals and their time-consuming textbookery!) but since Assassin's Creed is a PS3 and a 360 title, it's still worth giving the shout out.Kristen Bell, the famous (and good-lookin'... sorry, I'm a pig, I know...) actress spilled the beans in a recent interview regarding the twist of the upcoming title. Here's what she said: "It's actually really interesting to me. It's sort of based on the research that's sort of happening now, about the fact that your genes might be able to hold memory. And you could argue semantics and say it's instinct, but how does a baby bird know to eat a worm, as opposed to a cockroach, if its parents don't show it? And it's about this science company trying to, Matrix-style, go into peoples brains and find out an ancestor who used to be an assassin, and sort of locate who that person is."You know, what really annoys me, personally, about this is the fact a few months ago I started up a short story regarding what I decided to call "Persistent Eternally Linking Memories"... PELM. It's a neato story, but now that this game is apparently going a similar route, I feel I'd be regarded as a "me-too" storyteller. Oh well, it at least makes me interested enough to see how they present the material. What do you guys think? What sort of memory tricks will be wrought in Assassin's Creed? And seriously, can Ubisoft stop monopolizing the beautiful girl circuit? What with Assassin Creed producer, Jade and Kristen... sorry, lost my train of thought in those eyes...

Speaking with IGN TV about her role in Assassin's Creed, Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell offered a surprising take on Ubisoft's upcoming title:"It's sort of based on the research that's sort of happening now, about the fact that your genes might be able to hold memory. And you could argue semantics and say it's instinct, but how does a baby bird know to eat a worm, as opposed to a cockroach, if its parents don't show it? And it's about this science company trying to, Matrix-style, go into peoples brains and find out an ancestor who used to be an assassin, and sort of locate who that person is."Huh? We thought Assassin's Creed was about the Third Crusade? Guess there is something to that mysterious 'after-death screen' (see video; jump to 5:35). Too bad Ubisoft was unavailable for comment.
