Of all the cinematographic tricks in the book, few are as effective and primal as super slo-mo, and few names are as synonymous with the time-stretching tech as Vision Research. The company behind the famous Phantom is refreshing its line of more compact high-speed shooters with the Miro M110, M310 and M120. The 110 and 310 are both one megapixel affairs, with a 1200 x 800 CMOS sensor. The 110 tops out at 1,600fps at full resolution, but cutting down the image quality allows you to bump that rate up to 400,000fps. The M310 is even faster, hitting 3,200fps at its highest quality setting and reaching a mind-boggling 650,000 fps when dialed back -- making a single second last hours. The M120 offers up to 730fps at a full resolution of 1920 x 1200, but using the more standard 1920 x 1080 adds another 70fps, while subsequent drops in pixel count allow it to reach 200,000fps. Don't expect to capture your next student film or backyard wrestling match on one of these though, they're expected to start at $25,000 when they launch in January 2012. Check out the PR after the break.

The fact that Nokia and Acer are busily preparing Windows Phones is no secret, but Sea Ray and W4 may not be the manufacturers' only projects. Elbert Perez, a Windows Phone game developer with a keen eye for statistics, was looking through a list of the various devices that run his games, and a couple gems stood out -- the Nokia 800 and Acer M310. The plot thickens when realizing that these names have never been seen before. Sadly, such a revelation prompts more questions than answers: are these completely new phones, or just the Sea Ray and W4 with new names? If testers are playing games on them, can we assume these are close to production? But don't forget the lingering question that won't ever be answered: are they winning the game?

Nah, Samsung's M310 isn't nearly as diminutive as its MBP-100, but it's still quite the cutie. Hailed as an Ultra Mobile Pocket Imager, this DLP device features a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 150 ANSI lumens, VGA input, SVGA native resolution and a pleasantly small footprint. Mum's the word on an official price / release date, but we've all ideas this is one case where more won't cost less.[Via AboutProjectors]

  • ASUS adds a slider and flip

Personally, we have a softer spot in our hearts for ASUS' smartphone offerings, but they're doing their best to win us over on their, uh, less smart offerings with the J208 slider and M310 clamshell. The M310 offers the discerning consumer a scary, HAL-like camera lens sporting 2 megapixels of autofocus resolution, a QVGA internal display, and MicroSD slot in a music-oriented 90g chassis with external player controls. The more attractive of the pair, the J208 brings a 2.0 megapixel shooter (without the 2001 drama), 64MB of internal flash, a MicroSD slot, and a 220 x 176 display in a 17mm thick package; we would've liked to have seen QVGA, but we're not going to lose sleep over it since we're betting these tri-band GSM units are Asia-only.
