    A couple of weeks ago, I lamented the existence of grab bags in Champions Online and how they could be made more worthwhile. Although I made quite a few suggestions on what could be changed, the main concern was that the consumables placed in the grab bags were simply not worth anything. Improving the value of C-Store consumables won't appease the vocal minority whose sense of entitlement tells them that they deserve the ultra-rare grab bag items. These people only see the grab bags as chances for costume unlocks, so making the consumables worth the 80 CP ($1 US) won't matter to them. For the general public, though, making the consumables worth the gamble makes the grab bag items much more desirable. This week on Behind the Mask, we'll look at the C-Store consumables and weigh in on whether they're worth the money. If they're not, we'll look at what could be done to fix it!

  • Profession News: Potion Sickness gone, Herbalists get new ability

    It was perhaps one of the most unexpected and controversial changes to hit Wrath Beta: Potion Sickness, the debuff that spelled the end of chain-chugging by allowing only one potion to be quaffed per combat and no more. Some people loved, since it would cut down on pre-raid farming and perhaps allow for bosses to be balanced more around classes and roles and less around Haste, Ironshield, and Destruction potions. Some saw it as a major nerf to Alchemists and to casters who were used to chaining mana pots to stay in the blue.

    Raid Rx is designed to encapsulate and cure the shock and horror that is 25-man raid healing. Ok, so it's mostly horror... Anyways, if you're a big fan of X-TREME Whack-A-Mole (or are being forced into it against your will) this is the column for you. If you take a looksee at the picture to the right, you'll notice something staggering: +3206 Healing. I've enlarged the number for your viewing pleasure, covering over the 0 Hit Rating in the process. Yes, gear has a lot to do with such a high +healing number, but lest we forget the impact of consumables. Behind the scenes, our lovely shammy model is sporting the latest in elixir and food chompables, namely [Elixir of Healing Power], [Elixir of Draenic Wisdom], and what I'm guessing to be [Golden Fish Sticks]. And that's what I'm here to talk about today... Healing Consumables: How they work, what they do, and when you should be using them. All of that and maybe a bit more can be found behind the break.

    We saw this above image at our sister site, WoW Insider, and we couldn't help but wonder -- do these folks know their market or what? Personally, I'm working on my 3rd cup of coffee (hooray, hazelnut) and glad of both the caffeine and warmth considering a cold weather snap in my area. Our very own Moo Money is notorious for getting sugar-free Red Bull by the case because she likes the carbonation. Getting between Moo and her Red Bull can be a dangerous thing. We haven't tried the above "mana" potion elixir, but we've heard it tastes like Flintstones vitamins. (Of course, in a pinch and needing more energy, there are those among us who would probably drink one anyway.) Have you tried one? Do you like the pre-packaged energy fuel for gaming, or are you more the tea and coffee type? What's your favorite gamer fuel?
