  • The Daily Grind: What's your MMO guilty pleasure?

I am a man forged from several guilty pleasures -- you know, activities and entertainment that are considered uncool by the masses and yet are fun anyway. I adore the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes movie series (yes, there are four of them). I, a 34-year-old man, will dance and sing with my kids to Disney musical numbers. I have no compunction against asking for Star Wars LEGO sets for my birthday. We all have our guilty pleasures that we may or may not try to hide from our friends and colleagues, and I'm willing to bet this happens just as much in MMOs as anywhere else. Maybe you're the hardcore raider who secretly enjoys decorating his in-game house with a Martha Stewart touch. Maybe you're the PvPer who considers herself mature yet isn't above stooping to some smacktalk in the thick of things. Maybe you like an MMO that is either too fringe or too mainstream for the rest of your friends. So what do you enjoy in your online gaming career that could be called a guilty pleasure? Confess! This is a judgment-free zone, people, except for commenter #35 in this thread. That dude is going to judge the jeebers out of the rest of you. Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming. We crave your opinions, so grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and chime in on today's Daily Grind!

Nasdaq delisting candidate Majesco is betting on games based on domestically-faux corporate goddess Martha Stewart to up its cash flow. The agreement between the publisher and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia will see the creation of "interactive electronic games" based on Stewart's vast empire of lifestyle products. "Women are increasingly engaged in social gaming," Stewart said in the announcement. "We feel confident that this new offering will delight loyal customers who are active in the space while introducing a new generation to the brand." And then it hit us: Martha Stewart + Farmville = ROFLCOPTERS of $.

  • MacBook Air: It's a good thing

America's favorite ex-con (that's Martha Stewart, not her dog Sharkey, as seen above) just loves her new MacBook Air, according to her blog. Like most MBA owners, she's "amazed" by how thin it is, and is thrilled that the trackpad "works much the same way as the Apple iPhone" -- in fact, her whole writeup reads exactly like an ad from Apple, complete with the link to the Apple Store at the end. Who knew Martha was such a Mac-head?Although she does settle that debate about whether the book counts as a laptop or a laptop support unit: Martha still keeps her HP right next to the Air, not only because she likes to keep up with both platforms, but apparently because when aides come by her desk to work, she wants them to have choices. And we all know what choice is: a good thing.

"Everything inside is eatable, I mean edible, I mean you can eat everything." - Gene Wilder, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate FactoryDesigner cake maker Brian Walak put his talents to good use (not to marginalize his other, impressive work, but we can't exactly cover non-gaming culinary art) and made a cake modeled after a Wii, complete with remote (but no sensor bar in sight).Wired's Chris Kohler has posted some advice from Walak for budding chefs who want to make their own Wii cake. Walak's creation got him on the Martha Stewart show to discuss the game console and his pastry. Video embedded after the break.

  • Martha Stewart on how to bake an edible Wii

Martha Stewart has managed to bag a front cover appearance on Wired, a publication which somehow has convinced Martha to "geek out." Translation: Martha baked a cake in the shape of a Wii, and wanted to show it off. Although this example may not be in the same league as our birthday cake competition -- she ain't winnin' no Alienware with that thing -- we'll give Martha a respectable grade for her first effort: we wish her better luck next time with the "geeking out."

  • Sony follows Nintendo's steps and starts targeting moms

The Wii has been a huge hit at my house over Thanksgiving. Even my mom loved Wii Sports, and is thinking about buying a system for herself. Absolutely mind-boggling. Sony is eager to capitalize on the burgeoning gaming mom market, and has expanded their newly revitalized advertising campaign to less traditional media sources. A quick visit to marthastewart.com (pictured above) will reveal ads for the PSP with a tagline "Sugarplums aren't the only things dancing in their heads." Whatever that means. This campaign will also run on parenting.com and AOL's Parenting channel. The new campaign is "fairly unique for us," said John Koller, senior marketing manager. Sony plans on going for a more organic advertising approach, avoiding the very teen-oriented animation that defined the PSP's first year and a half. Finally![Via Ad Week]

  • Kodak, Martha Stewart partner on product line

Now that America's favorite homemaker/inside trader is back to full steam following her brief incarceration, it seems that we may be in for another wave of branded products reminiscent of her previous assault on K-Mart shelves, as Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and Kodak have just announced plans to jointly release a line of personalized photo swag. Available in late September from both companies' websites, the MSLO-designed lineup will include such exciting products as photo books, stationary, calendars, stickers, and occasion-specific cards that customers can slap their uploaded photos onto -- certainly nothing new, but now the process comes with Ms Stewart's coveted seal of approval. The multi-year agreement means that we can expect the customizable offerings to expand into other categories such as food and gardening, and it looks like Martha herself is quite confident that the venture will succeed, as she reportedly bulked up her portfolio with more Kodak and MSLO stock just hours before the deal was announced.[Via DigitalCameraInfo, photo courtesy of BusinessWire]
