We knew that Hudson planned to release the import Gradius II GOFER no Yabou and Digital Champ Battle Boxing (that's Battle Boxing, instead of all those non-battle boxing games) in October, but it turns out they've picked the earliest possible time in October to do it, which happens to be next Monday. Along with the announcement, the info pages for both Gradius II and Digital Champ are available. This is the second set of imports in a row for Hudson, as well as the second set of imports to be released as a pair.Keeping in mind the obligatory disclaimer that Nintendo may decide at any moment to apply their veto power and just put up MaBoShi or something, we're tentatively excited. We aren't sure if this is a good time or a bad time to put out a boxing game, though.

  • Break In rated for VC, isn't as exciting as it sounds

The latest future Virtual Console game to show up on the ESRB is a Turbografx-16 title by the name of Break In. Sounds exciting, right? This game was published by Alien Crush/Devil's Crush publisher Naxat Soft in 1989, and it never made it out of Japan. This ESRB rating means that it's going to be released in the U.S. for the first time.Unfortunately, the awesome title of Break In has been squandered on a pool game. We were pretty disappointed, after seeing a game called Break In and imagining some kind of unknown police-style brawler or something, to find it was some pool thing.

It's been hard not to feel totally pampered by recent PAL Virtual Console updates, with the likes of Phantasy Star II and Street Gangs keeping us up late. This week's releases -- both of which are shooters -- can't quite match that kind of awesomeness, but they're still worth considering. Super Turrican is a pretty SNES shooter from Factor 5 (heard of those turncoats?), while Psychosis is -- we urge you to brace yourselves for a shock -- a Turbografx-16 shooter.Blast your way past the break for extensive footage of both in action. Super Turrican -- SNES -- 800 Wii points Psychosis -- Turbografx -- 800 Wii points

Welcome to our weekly feature, Virtually Overlooked, wherein we talk about games that aren't on the Virtual Console yet, but should be. Call it a retro-speculative.Whenever possible, I like to freak out on the Internet about how awesome Naxat Soft's Crush series of pinball games is. Alien Crush and Devil's Crush are not only the best pinball games ever made for a not-pinball-machine, they also happen to be the best games on the Virtual Console (I am allowed to have opinions!) When we gave away a bundle of VC games, I made sure that Devil's Crush was part of the bundle.Jaki Crush is another one of those. It's another Crush game. That's really the only motivation I need to freak out.
